Steelers are working on both punt returns and punting backed up against their own goal line. Ball placed on the 1 and we are in punt formation. Berry gets punt off and the ball is caught by 17 on the 20. That's 80 yards. Just to prove it was no fluke he hit a 70 yarder a few minutes later.

13 complete to 81 on an out.

Post practice: All TE's working on jugs
Extra sprints run by 9 14 and 88 late

Random thoughts: We tend to keep 6 DL 97 91 93 79 96 and 90. 99 may lead the rest but those 6 are way ahead of the pack.
46d had a solid day. He has had a few flashes.
35 is a liability in coverage.
56 continues to look the part, holds the point and can turn the corner.
JJ is having solid camp. Green not seen today and both James and Grimble keep getting reps and have made plays. Grimble runs
good routes and hands are good. Blocking is still a ? need to see him in a few games.
17 has early lead on 82 for the final wr slot. Both have looked fine as punt returners but 82 not getting as many reps as a wr.

Seems like I have less of a grasp on our team's uni numbers during camp than any year I can remember (particularly when it comes to all the new DB's). I constantly have to refer to a roster sheet when reading these. You'd think I'd start to catch on by now, but I'm starting to get a bit older and the memory may not be what it once was, I suppose.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

It's a pass pattern, run like how a chair looks with no back legs. Up out up.
These reports are just awesome, great work. On the live show, Bob talked about Davis coming off the slot and crushing DW trying to block him. Did you see this, impression? Believe it was during 7 shots

I did not see that. It's a one take and you miss a lot. Appreciate the kind words. Thank u. Davis overall has looked solid for a rookie. Overall this rookie group has been fine. Need to see them in game situations though to know what we have or don't have.

Practice Report: 'Seven Shots' with a twist
                Posted 14 hours ago

                By Mike Prisuta

WR Antonio Brown shows CB Artie Burns some new moves.

LATROBE, Pa. - A breakdown of Practice No. 6 at Saint Vincent College:

SEVEN WITH A TWIST: The offense broke out a new double-move route for the occasion and then executed it to perfection.

WR Antonio Brown lined up opposite CB Artie Burns, who opened practice getting reps with the first-team defense opposite CB Ross Cockrell, on the second snap of “Seven Shots.” Brown initially made a hard out-cut toward the goal line pylon, then broke back hard for the end line pylon. Burns bit hard on the out-cut and Brown couldn’t have been more open by the time the throw from QB Ben Roethlisberger arrived in the back corner of the end zone.

Chalk up another lesson learned by Burns while working against Brown, something that’s been happening with regularity ever since the outset of training camp.

Brown and Roethlisberger had worked out the kinks on the play in an individual period that preceded “Seven Shots,” running reps and discussing what had to happen and when.

But head coach Mike Tomlin wasn’t willing to attribute the success of the play solely to design or attention to detail.

“Who was running it had a lot to do with it,” Tomlin said.

The drill began with a Roethlisberger-to-WR Darrius Heyward-Bey conversion.

A check-down to RB Le’Veon Bell was completed, but LB Vince Williams wouldn’t let Bell get into the end zone.

Roethlisberger also tried a roll right followed by a behind-the-back pitch to TE Jesse James that didn't work.

TE Xavier Grimble went up and snared a ball from QB Dustin Vaughan, then held on despite a pop from S Shamarko Thomas.

The drill ended with Vaughan being “sacked” (the whistle was blown when the protection broke down completely) and with Vaughan missing James (overthrow). The defense won the day, 4-3.

SPECIAL CAT: The “Special Category” period focused on no-huddle work. Roethlisberger, Vaughn and QB Landry Jones were all able to turn no-huddle snaps into big plays.

Roethlisberger hit Brown on a deep ball over CB Doran Grant, who assumed first-team reps after Burns exited practice early. Vaughn and WR Levi Norwood hooked up for big gain down the sideline at CB Montell Garner’s expense. And Jones connected with WR Demarcus Ayers on a seam route that beat DB Ross Ventrone.

IN-VINCE-ABLE: Williams, working first-team reps in LB Ryan Shazier’s spot, kept making plays all day after denying Bell the end zone in “Seven Shots.”

Williams dropped RB Cameron Stingily for a 2-yard loss and RB Christian Powell 1 yard behind the line of scrimmage in “Team Run.”

And Williams made a skillful deflection from behind to deny James a catch in “7-on-7.”

MEDICAL FILE: “Nothing of any significance to report,” Tomlin said. “Some guys with minor bumps and bruises are working their way back.” In addition to Burns, WR Markus Wheaton left practice early. In addition to Shazier, CB William Gay, LB Bud Dupree and LB Travis Feeney didn’t practice.

AUDIBLES: “Get 24 checked out.” - Someone on the defense repeatedly yelling at someone on the offense after RB Brandon Brown-Dukes was blasted by Ventrone and LB Steven Johnson on a 1-yard loss in “Team Run.”
