Well, if there is one guy that Ovie complained about nearly as much as Jarvis Jones and Dick LeBeau, it was David Johnson. Maybe the Steelers signed him to get Ovie on Jarvis' back.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Is this signing to push Spaeth? Because I don't see him challenging James and Green.

Johnson is a pure blocker. The Steelers used him as a FB at times, too. Somehow, in replacing Will Johnson, they actually managed to downgrade the roster.

I guess I'm ok with this move as depth / injury insurance for Spaeth, but I hope he is not on the final 53.

He doesn't do anything all that well, IMO. If he makes the roster, I hope he rarely sees the field.

If he does anything, it will be compete with Roosevelt Nix...maybe some kind of swing FB/TE...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Solid backup that can block, see what he can do in camp

At least he won't count against us in the compensatory pick formula, since that deadline expired last week.

Since leaving us, he's played in 30 games in 2 seasons with San Diego, with 6 starts, 2 carries for 4 yards, and 2 catches for 8 yards.

The one benefit is he may be able to help Ladarius Green adapt to his new offense faster, since those two spent the last couple of seasons together in the Charger TE room...since Johnson knows the Charger offense and the Steeler offense already, he might be able to translate the verbiage for Green to make his transition here easier.

Not sure I can forgive the complete whiff of a block by Johnson that led to Mendy getting crushed and fumbling in the Super Bowl vs Green Bay. Errrrrr....

It's funny, but I was just reading about this...

Apparently, on that play, Doug Legursky was pulling in order to block down on a D lineman...he was late getting there and Johnson was caught looking at the guy Legs was supposed to block for a second...that was enough for Clay Matthews to go by him...

If Pouncey had been healthy, he probably would have pulled and made the block with no problem...

David Johnson is my favorite Packer! Legursky wasn't late, he over ran his block and DJ was confused and/or brain farted...

I would be happy if we got Arizona RB David Johnson!
