    Big Ben Gets SKINNY

Ben Roethlisberger gets trim with 'high cardio' offseason regimen

Ben Roethlisberger looked noticeably slimmer in a picture from a recent University of Pittsburgh football practice.

It turns out the Steelers quarterback has lost at least 15 pounds this offseason on a "high-cardio" plan with team trainers, according to Roethlisberger's agent, Ryan Tollner.

This is a change from the 2015 season, when Roethlisberger was living in the training room with multiple injuries.

"He couldn't really work out because he kept getting hurt," Tollner said. "I think he said after the season, you know what, I'm going to lose weight to alleviate potential pain in my joints."

Roethlisberger, 34, missed four games with a medial collateral ligament sprain and a bone bruise. He also suffered a foot sprain, was under concussion protocol for a week and separated his shoulder on a hit from Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict in an AFC wild-card playoff game.

Roethlisberger entered the 2004 NFL draft at around 240 pounds, but typically has played bigger than that, in part to absorb hits from the pocket. Perhaps being slimmer will help Roethlisberger as he enters his 13th year in Pittsburgh.

Word got around that Roethlisberger has been in the workout facility quite often this offseason, and it seems like it's paying off.

At this stage in his career, I like that he's working on slimming down a bit. Hopefully this allows Ben to tack another year or two onto his career.

The part about alleviating pain in the joints is dead on...you might might not think so, but 10-15 pounds makes a world of difference on ankles, feet and knees...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Preach it brother! I'm living it every day. In the middle of a slim down plan and it makes all the difference in the world. Also makes you snore less

Agreed. Tons of benefits in slimming down. But in the end, I think the main thing Ben needs to focus on is not taking the big hits. I know that extending the plays can result in big ones but at this point, I think it's a little more important to extend his career instead.
