So, I guess this means we'll never have to hear about Ben's superbowl 40 performance ever again, right?

You are correct. 3/4 defense won this season showing the folly of 4/3 fixes everything nonesense. If Jones wasn't a "miss" as a pick, nobody would whine about 4/3.
People want us to emulate Carolina to improve our pass rush when we had MORE SACKS THAN THEY DID, without a single dominating pass rusher .
Do you realize we are one good pass rusher away from leading the league in sacks.
Kind of explodes the myth that you've got to have a great offense to win in today's NFL. Denver clearly didn't have a great offense this year. But they did have a great defense, and that ended up being good enough. Nice to see.
I hope the Steelers are paying attention. Some investment, attention and hard work on their D, and they could be hoisting the next Lombardi.

it was a Trent Dilferish win for Manning yesterday.
That D really carried the Broncos to the SB win.
Impressive. One thing that stood out is the Panthers struggling vs the 3-4. I think it definitely caused problems for them.

Their offense was better that day. They scored more than our offense did.
As little appreciation as our defense got, had AZ scored as it had been scoring we lose. We held them well below their average. If not for a defensive score, Ben's hero moment never happens.
The better defense won.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:
TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

I generally think that you need to be balanced on O and D to win. Denver was not, but they were just so ferocious on D that it didn't matter that their O was bad.
Watching the Denver D play NE and CAR makes me wish that we were healthy when we went up to Denver. Our Offence was the best test they got all playoffs.
(But for the record, I think we probably would have lost in NE if we beat Denver).
