The Pro Football Hall of Fame Board of Selectors have chosen the "Super Bowl 50 Golden Team" in honor of Super Bowl 50, celebrating the best overall career performances in the Super Bowl, the NFL announced today.

"The Super Bowl 50 Golden Team is an amazing list of incredible individuals," said Pro Football Hall of Fame Executive Vice President Joe Horrigan. "Each name conjures up memories of some of the sport's greatest games showcased on its biggest platform, the Super Bowl stage. Unforgettable individual performances like Lynn Swann's acrobatic catches in Super Bowl X or Joe Montana's come-from-behind game winning drive in Super Bowl XXIII are forever etched in the collective memories of football fans and celebrated as some of the most inspiring moments in the history of the National Football League."

The Super Bowl 50 Golden Team roster consists of one quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers, one tight end, two offensive tackles, two guards, one center, two interior defensive linemen, two defensive ends, two inside linebackers, two outside linebackers, two cornerbacks, two safeties, one kicker, one punter, and one return specialist. One head coach has also been chosen.

The Super Bowl Golden Team includes:

Twenty-two Pro Football Hall of Famers: guard Larry Allen, cornerback Mel Blount, defensive tackle Joe Greene, tackle Forrest Gregg, punter Ray Guy, defensive end Charles Haley, outside linebacker Jack Ham, running back Franco Harris, inside linebacker Jack Lambert, safety Ronnie Lott, quarterback Joe Montana, head coach Chuck Noll, wide receiver Jerry Rice, cornerback Deion Sanders, tackle Art Shell, running back Emmitt Smith, wide receiver Lynn Swann, outside linebacker Lawrence Taylor, guard Gene Upshaw, center Mike Webster, defensive tackle Randy White and defensive end Reggie White.

Three Associated Press Most Valuable Players: Montana, Smith and Taylor.

Eight Pittsburgh Steelers were selected, the most of any team: Blount, Greene, Ham, Harris, Lambert, Noll, Swann and Webster.

Kicker Adam Vinatieri is the only unanimous selection. Vinatieri is also the only active player to be selected.

    Complete team:

Offense: Joe Montana (QB); Franco Harris, Emmitt Smith (RB); Jerry Rice, Lynn Swann (WR); Jay Novacek (TE); Art Shell, Forrest Gregg (OT); Gene Upshaw, Larry Allen (OG); Mike Webster (C).

Defense: Reggie White, Charles Haley (DE); Joe Greene, Randy White (DL); Lawrence Taylor, Jack Ham (OLB); Jack Lambert, Ray Lewis (ILB); Mel Blount, Deion Sanders (CB); Ronnie Lott, Jake Scott (S).

Specialists: Adam Vinatieri (K); Desmond Howard (PR/KR); Ray Guy (P).

    Coach: Chuck Noll

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

So no Steelers from Super Bowls 30, 40, 43, or 45 were deemed worthy?

Really? We are gonna complain about that when we DOMINATE that roster with our 70s guys?

Imagine being a fan of those other teams that got zip or just one.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

I think they should have Terry Bradshaw on there. 4 SB rings, MVP for 1 or 2?

We got our "6-PACK" - time to work on a CASE!

HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!

It's rough choosing between Bradshaw and Montana...both were 4-0 in Super Bowls...but, Montana was the SB MVP three times to Bradshaw's two...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Montana had 11 touchdowns and zero picks.
Bradshaw had 9 touchdowns and had 3 picks in the game against the Rams alone.

                  Montana was pretty flawless.

9 touchdowns?!! Dang. I knew Terry had a good game against the Rams...didn't remember it being that good!

Yeah, but Montana got to play the Ben-gals twice...

                        Nice
He had 2 touchdowns and 3 picks in that game. While he deserved MVP based on the comeback featuring those memorable bombs, we tend to forget how badly he played for much of the game.

Montana never had a bad half. He was never carried by a running back and ridiculous defense like Brad was in his first win.

That is why 95 percent of NFL fans know Montana was easily the best SB QB of all time. Terry was GREAT, raised his game big time in Superbowls. He was the ant-Peyton in that regard. But if we weren't biased Steeler fans, there would be no debate. Montana as QB is one of the easiest calls on that entire list.

We have eight on that list people. We got no business gripimg.

                          Or griping, for that matter.

I agree with you--Montana should be #1 on the all-time Super Bowl QB list.

Agree completely. Only a blind homer would pick Bradshaw over Montana. Bradshaw was great. Montana was greater..... by a fair margin.
