Denver's offensive play calling at the end of the 4th quarter was pretty bad. 6 minutes left they did everything they could to not burn the clock and give the ball back to NE near mid-field. Then they did it again. They burned under 2 minutes combined in those 2 possessions.

Well, they tried to burn clock and the Pats were al over the run plays.

They really needed to run a bootleg but you cant do that with Manning.

First series was 1 run for 1 yard, followed by 2 incomplete passes.

Second series was 1 run for 2 yards (NE burns time out), 1 run for -2 yards (NE burns time out) and then an complete pass.

So you are correct that the Pats were all over the run, but they were all over the pass too. One of Manning's passes on 3rd down was almost picked off. And you can't burn the clock with an incomplete pass.
