Do the Steelers really need to draft a corner?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a Revis level corner on the team. I just don't think the Steelers will find one at 25, or that they need one for the defense to succeed. If they had a Keenan Lewis level guy (circa his last season in PGH) they'd be in much better shape.I'll disagree with ya there philly. I think they need another elite corner. If they had a Revis on that team, wow. I will agree with you that a play making safety would be nice too. I guess we couldn't have both, could we? lol Some of these others teams do...example- Denver.Comment

Agree completely. If I was Boykin, Pittsburgh would be my last choice. Well, maybe second to last after San Fran - the only thing less likely than Boykin returning is him reuniting with Chip.Comment

Any chance Lewis is a cap casualty in New Orleans? I think he is a $6M hit in 2016 and $9M in 2017 (added this year to his original deal to help the cap in 15 and 16). The Saints have serious cap issues.Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a Revis level corner on the team. What gets me is that some people keep saying that Blake was in over Boykin for most of the season because Blake was a better tackler... From watching their on-field performance, that sure isn't the way it looked to me. Blake missed more than 30 tackles this season! I'm sorry, but it's hard for me to believe that's the play of a "good tackler."Comment

We need quality in our secondary, not quantity. We can't afford to sign a premium level corner in free agency, so we'd need to use our first round pick if we want a chance at an immediate upgrade there. I could live with Gay starting at one outside corner spot, a first-round rookie competing with Cockrell for the other outside corner spot, and second round pick Golson in the slot.
We might be able to get a premium level safety, though, since Eric Weddle will not be returning to San Diego (or L.A. or wherever the Chargers end up) after the way he was treated there this season. Since he is turning 30, his price tag should be more affordable, but he should still be able to provide us with quality production for the next 2-3 years. Tomlin likes Weddle and Weddle likes Tomlin. Make it happen Colbert. And then maybe draft a developmental safety in the 3rd or 4th round to learn behind Mitchell and Weddle.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment
