Rams to LA--what do you think?

I guess it depends on your age, but for me they have always been the Los Angeles Rams. I know there are lots of folks bemoaning poor St Louis and poor St Louis fans but didn't they do the same thing to LA 20+ years ago?

    What are your thoughts?

I imagine people will come for awhile just to check out the new facility, from what I understand is nothing short of spectacular, but the 3 seasons in the Coliseum could be ugly if the Rams continue to field bad teams.

Speaking of the Rams,I posted in the NFL forum that Lawrence Phillips was found dead in his prision cell at the age of 40. Crazy to think the Rams drafted him 6 overall in 1996 and traded the Bus to the Steelers.

The Chargers should now locate to an area to the SOUTH of L.A.

I don't give a rip about the Rams moving to L.A..

I'm guessing most people in the Los Angeles Metropolitan area don't either.

                      meh.

That said, not hard to understand the move.

St Louis: we'll give you $100M to upgrade the stadium to a modern facility.
LA: we'll build you a brand spanking new state of the art $2B stadium.

                      follow the money.........

It's a HORRIBLE decision. I've not had to subscribe to Sunday Ticket for the last few years, because most Steeler games (~12) ended up on local channels anyway. Now... that's done.

But as for the big picture--I think it could work this time, for this reason. Nowadays, you got women in the fan demographic. 20 years ago, that wasn't the case. Now, with fantasy and all, you can get a lot more a3$es in seats.

I do like the fact that I'll finally be able to go to a Steeler game in LA someday. And I do think LA should have one team (not two though. To me, the ideal outcome would've been for each major LA city get their team: Bay = SF, LA = Raiders, SD = Chargers, and STL keep the Rams.)
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

Already lost 2 teams. Haven't had a team in over 20 years and the NFL has had unprecedented growth. Not an NFL town. Joke to act as if there has to be a team there. Sucks for St Louis and possible San Diego.

For those of us living in the 'burgh, it's hard to imagine what this does to fans. I went to college in baltimore. It's why the orioles are the team I cheer for in the american league. I lived three blocks from memorial stadium. I was there when the colts packed up and skipped town in the middle of the night. it was horrifying. I get the NFL is a business - but it's a business that sells it's 'product' to a very specific segment of the population. the fans in baltimore were never short on love for the colts. the irsay's however were scumbags that didn't give a rats behind about those fans. so the colts bolted. and then baltimore went courting for any team they could get without consideration for what that would do to the fans of the city that was left holding the bag. hello cleveland. I hate the rats enough because they are in our division - but i really hate the rats because they were the team that got pulled from a city where they were beloved. modell and irsay should spend eternity in hell getting raped by ghosts from the dogpound.

the sad truth is there are despicable owners. those suckers in oakland will keep showing up in darth raider gear - but the first city that offers davis a better deal, and they're gone again. the rams bolted to st louis who paid a princely sum to replace the cardinals who were lured to phoenix so another scum family named bidwell could be enriched. I lived there for awhile as well and watched a team that would win 4 games a year charge the highest ticket prices in the country.

so what city is vulnerable now? oakland? jacksonville with it's small fan base? the titans are another team that will move in a heartbeat for the right deal. let's see who STL opens up the checkbook for and what next fan base is left with an empty chair when the music stops.

                              the whole thing is disgusting.
