A theory about why we win or lose

This team is undefeated versus NFC teams and has 3 loses in the division (edit...I missed the Seahawks I address them in a follow-up post). Another loss to BBs Pats, who know him as well as anybody. Do you see a pattern?

Some loses were without Ben. Understandable.

But Ben struggles with picks against teams that KNOW HIM WELL. Nothing to do with how good the opponent is. We beat some of the best teams if they were unfamiliar. We beat bad teams that were unfamiliar.

Ben is unlike any other QB in the league. So teams that don't face him he tears up. It take experience to even know how to tackle him. Normal don't work with him.

    Familiar teams give us trouble.

Browns tend to be an exception but between being so horrible and no coach continuity they don't really know Ben as well as the rest of the division

Someone said, "keep safeties deep, allow the underneath stuff and Ben will eventually force deep throws to coverage and throw picks."

We never seem to lose when he does not turn the ball over and rarely lose when he has one turnover. The key to beating us is to turn it over or you will lose.

    Thoughts?

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Are we not counting the loss to the Seahawks? And two of those wins were against the Rams and 49ers - both awful.

I totally agree. Ben gets impatient.

Missed that one. But while they forced turnovers we scored a bunch on them. They did take advantage of deep forced throws.

And as far as the Rams and 49ers being horrible.......so was the team that just beat us for the second time this season. That is my point

He was clearly staring down receivers today. He can be a master of the look-off or pump fake but hasn't been doing that lately. It was like the Ravens took away his first look receiver and he didn't know where to go with the ball.

Which Ints were the cause of being impatient and going downfield today?

without question, teams in a division know more of what teams will try to do vs. them.
Mjust look at the pats today vs. the jets.
No tds for the offense until under 2 mins to play.

Ben isnt the type of QB to put a team on his back. If the D keeps it close he can do amazing things but we have never seen Ben carry a team deep in the playoffs.

Ben has always been a great game manager and I think fans made a huge mistake taking it as a dig on his game.

Yeah, I think they ate too much prime rib and potatoes this week.

Ben's throws were off today. He depends on that back shoulder throw to Brown and he was off.

Every loss come from Ben not taking the easy pass and looking for the big play which equal to multiple TO from him.

Even when he doesn't throw a pick it still stings just like at the end when it was 3rd and 15 he goes deep to "can't catch a cold" Bryant instead of something underneath to Heath or someone else so it would have been a manageable 4th down and not another deep ball to "DB Super glued" Wheaton.

Maybe because he's starting to look like Ryan Fitzpatrick! And now plays like him.
