    Good article in BTSC

He has 36 receptions and 2 TDs. Good Lord the team sure dodged a bullet by him getting greedy and as they say "the rest is history"

Was he greedy? Correct if I'm wrong, I don't think we made a comparable offer (vs MIA). If that's correct, 100% of us would have made the same decision in his shoes.

Now, I will say that he seems to be on the Lamarr Woodley, "I hit the lotto and don't have to work anymore" blueprint.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

I'm thankful he turned us down since it may have impacted our ability to keep AB.

But if he put up similar numbers going deep in our offense as he did the first few years it wouldnt have been a bad contract.

The bigget mistake these other teams made is thinking Ben was coming with MW when he signed his contract.

Here's the question that I have, we know AB took the 5 years and 42 million that was offered to Wallace. Lets say Wallace had accepted the offer, would the Steelers have been able to make the same offer to AB and have both receivers on the roster at 5 years and 42 million?

That's the equivalent of a 5 year 84 million dollar contract for a WR, but in this case the Steelers would have been signing 2 WRs. Here are the top 2 salaried WRs for some of the teams.

Lions - 22 million per in 2 WRs
Falcons 20 million per in 2 WRs
Colts 20 million per in 2 WRs
Packers 20 million per in 2 WRs
Broncos 19 million per in 2 WRs
Cowboys 17 million per in 2 WRs
Redskins 16.5 million per in 2 WRS
Vikings 16 million per in 2 WRs
Bengals 16 million per in 2 WRs (Green is 15 million per)
Jets 15.8 million per in 2 WRs
Bucs 14.7 million per in 2 WRs
Cards 14.4 million per in 2 WRs
Raiders 14 million per in 2 WRs
Giants 12.1 million per in 2 WRs (Beckham is not one of them)
Chiefs 12 million per in 2 WRs
Steelers 11.1 million per in 2 WRs (Jacob Jones is one of them)

Rumor numbers were HIGHER than what they offered Brown. They extended Brown earlier than normal as a fallback, he had less leverage than Wallace.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

My concern right now is how they keep ABrown, MBryant, and MWheaton in the future. Brown and Wheaton have one more year til they are due another contract and Bryant 2 years, iirc. Although AB's agent might be pushing again this offseason. Who's salary can we dump? Bens got the biggest contract but that defeats the purpose. Maybe Heath won't be here in a couple years, especially if JJames develops.

I'm loving what AB is doing but I have to think he might be playing his way out of our budget.

No the biggest mistake was falling in love with the hype about his speed and not recognizing how much he was lacking as a WR.

Ben created an illusion of Wallace being a top WR and he cashed in on that

AB is gone after he plays out his current contract. Enjoy him while you can. The Steelers will never give him what he is worth or even close to it and I am good with that.

I don't agree with this. The Steelers will work out a good deal for both sides

No way do we let AB walk, unless he is crazy unreasonable. If he is, adios. Ben makes receivers, not the other way around.

Bell need to be kept. Ben doesn't make RBs. They are good or not. Having a legit QB (as we do) sure helps RBs, but it is not the same dynamic as what Ben makes of recievers.

JJ will replace Heath, even if he isn't the same level as Heath. I wouldn't be surprised if Heath called it a career after this year. He has lost a bit, IMO. Still a weapon, just not the Heath of five years ago.

I love AB. His contract expires after the 2017 season. He will turn 30 during that offseason. Will that affect things?

Will the Steelers work out a reasonable deal with Wheaton and then choose between AB and Martavis Bryant in two years?
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.
