    Fantasy Advice

Squeaked into my league's playoffs with the points for tie breaker after dropping 140 last week. My team is looking pretty good after a terrible start to the year.

I have a question for the board re: starting QBs. Here are my choices.

    P. Rivers: Has an easy match up against a poor Dolphin's D that's flying across the country after a Monday night game. But, Rivers has been poor lately in part because all of his weapons are hurt.

    R. Fitzpatrick: Has been sneaky good this season and helped rack up a ton of points for me last week. But, he plays Dallas who have been very good against the pass (5th fewest points against QBs).

Thoughts on who should get the start?

That's a tough one, but I think I'd go with Fitzpatrick mostly because he's still playing for something. Of course, if you play him in your league, you might find yourself in a quandary since the Jets losing would be good for the Steelers.

I would start the guy who's been successful throwing to Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker as opposed to the guy who has been struggling without Keenan Allen, Stevie Johnson, Dontrelle Inman, etc.

The Chargers have scored 3 points in each of their past 2 games and in both games Rivers had 0 TD's (obviously) and a pick in each one, while in the Jets last 3 games, they have scored 38, 23, and 30 points, and Fitz has thrown for 9 TD's and no picks during that time. One guy's hot right now and other is ice cold. You don't want to play an ice cold QB in the playoffs, regardless of matchups.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Rivers. Fitzpatrick is long overdue to turn into Ryan Fitzpatrick again.

Bonus points for using the word "pillory".

Thanks for the comments. I've been leaning toward Fitz because Rivers has been so bad lately, but the match-up for SD is tempting. Hadn't thought about the fact that the game matters more to the Jets.

              Will probably go with Fitz.

It's a Canadian league, so I'm only playing at $0.73 on the dollar if I lose anyway (right...)

If you win because of Fitz and the Steelers miss out on the playoffs, you lose as a fan. Anytime your rooting interests go against the Steelers' best interests, that's bad mojo.

By the power of the terrible towel, go with Philip Rivers. Plus good ole Bill Cowher liked him.

Besides even if Rivers puts up a goose egg, the rest of your team will make up for it cause you stuck by your Steelers' loyalty.

One year playing FF, I took the Ravens D back when they were good. And it was the kiss of death. Every other starter on my team got hurt for an extended period of time that year. And I deserved it.

Just don't do what I do and did again- over think it and screw up. I picked up Hoyer (I have P. Manning and he's been awful and hurt) instead of starting Alex Smith and Hoyer ended up with negative points instead of like 13 that Smith had, and I ended up losing by a freaking point.

Again, just don't over think it by picking up others. Start Fitz.

This story has a happy ending. I picked Fitz, but it was the wrong play by 12 points.

Never fear! A.Brown and D. Johnson dominated this week. I'm at 146 with B.Watson to play. Will face the leading scorer in the league in the final.

                      Hoping for another great week!

                      Thanks for the help.
