    More Mike Tomlin Facts:

Mike Tomlin and the Steelers make history

    Ray Fittipaldo 2 minutes ago
With the victory against Cincinnati on Sunday, Mike Tomlin became the third Steelers coach to win 90 games. No other franchise in NFL history has three coaches with 90 victories.

Hall of Famer Chuck Noll won 193 games from 1969-91 and Bill Cowher won 149 games from 1992-2006.

Tomlin also became the ninth head coach in NFL history to win 90 games in his first nine seasons as a head coach, joining Mike Ditka, Joe Gibbs, Dennis Green, Mike Holmgren, John Madden, Mike McCarthy, George Seifert and Don Shula.

Tomlin is the sixth head coach in NFL history to win 90 games in his first nine seasons with one franchise, joining Ditka, Gibbs, Green, Madden and McCarthy on that list.

    Other than that he sucks.

Cowher never had 9 consecutive non-losing seasons

Noll had 13 from 1972 to 1984 with probably the greatest team in NFL history for most of that period.

What current coach in the NFL, not named Belicheck, can match what Tomlin has done?
"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"

5 out of Belichick's first 6 seasons as a HC were losing seasons...

Then, he started cheating and took over a team in a weak division, so things improved dramatically...

No matter your opinion of him, Tomlin has proven to be another very successful hire for the franchise.

Some will say he hasn't won enough SB's, but there is time.

Many people will continue to say "he won with Cowher's players" no matter what evidence is put in front of them. That said, he has overseen a complete roster transition, and still comes out of it with a high win %.

Nearly all HC's that are at a football club for this length, or a comparable length, will see up & down seasons. Losing seasons, through that transitional period.

Not Tomlin. This team has always remained "above the line".
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

            Light up the darkness.

Well, this will probably get me flamed, but I don't know that I could call those 8-8 seasons "above the line."

I will say that, when the entire span of his time with the Steelers is taken into consideration, he's been a good HC.

Not flamed, but John Harbaugh would love an 8-8 season right about now...

He might love it, but I doubt if he would consider it to be "above the line."

Well, if you want to speculate exactly what goes on in John Hairball's head, knock yourself out! The guy probably thinks about the Steelers as much as we do...

Uhhh...YOU were the one who brought him up...YOU were the one who posted that you thought he'd love an 8-8 season...

I really don't give a rip what Hairbag thinks.

Remain competitive is probably a better way described what Tomlin helped the organization achieve.

I simply said that he would probably love to have an 8-8 season as opposed to the 10 loss season he is looking at right now...as any sane person would...

In the grand scheme of things, not much difference between 8-8 and 6-10... other than a few draft positions. It's really about playoffs, championships, Superbowls... even coaches would agree on that.
