    Playoff Scenarios

If the Steelers, Chiefs and Jets all win out, The Chiefs become the #5 seed and the Steelers become the #6 seed based upon the common opponent tiebreaker with the Jets.

If the Steelers, Chiefs and Jets all go 3-1, the Chiefs get the #5 seed and either the Steelers or the Jets get the #6 seed...if the Jets one loss comes against Dallas, they are in...if it comes against any other team, the Steelers are in...

The Texans could win out and tie the Steelers record (if the Steelers go 3-1), but they play Indy, Tenn and Jax...if they win out, they will be division champion...

If the Bills win out and the Steelers go 3-1, it depends upon the team that beats the Steelers...

If Buffalo wins out, then that will knock the Jets out of the wild card race...

Then, the tiebreakers get complicated...if the Steelers go 3-1 and the Bills win out, both teams would have a 7-5 conference record...

If the Steelers one loss comes against Cincinnati, then they would have identical common opponent records (Colts, Pats**, Bengals, Chiefs) at 1-5...therefore, if they beat Cincy but lose only one other game, the Steelers win the tiebreaker with the Bills with a 2-4 common opponent record...

The next tiebreaker is strength of victory, which calculates the win % of the opponents defeated...that is not yet possible to determine...

Here's hoping they make things easy for themselves and just win out. I'd hate seeing a team this talented denied a chance to compete.

Hoping the team WINS out??? That's a novel idea on this board...
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

im more concerned about finishing with at least 8 wins so we can go another year without having a losing record

Right now, if the Steelers win out, they can get no worse than the 6th seed. Provided that they win the next four games, only the Chiefs and the Jets can equal 11-5. Against the Chiefs, we lose the head-to-head tiebreaker. In a three way tie, the Chiefs would have the best conference record and get the #5 seed. Then, the Steelers and Jets would have identical conference records. After that, the next tiebreaker is common opponents. There are four: Cleveland, Indy, New England and Oakland. In this scenario, the Steelers would have 4 wins and 1 loss. The Jets already have two losses within those common opponents (Pats** and Oakland). Steelers get the 6th seed.

Just focus on the #6 seed. The Chiefs have the head-to-head tiebreaker and an easy remaining schedule, so barring an unforeseen collapse, they're going to be the #5 seed. The Jets and Bills are the Steelers' biggest threats right now. Good news is, the Jets and Bills still have to play each other one more time.

Dammit, don't you know that draft picks are way more important than playoff wins and chances at the Super Bowl? I thought you went to Cornell. ....or was it Cornnall?

In 2005, we lost to the Pats** and beat the Chargers...though we were beaten by Indy in the regular season....
