I'm Only Saying This Because I Love The Game...

...the officiating in the NFL is truly garbage this year. I have officially decided not to watch any games but Steelers games. I just can't stand it.

And it isn't that "there have always been bad calls"...there have never been this many and never this many that have directly affected the outcomes of games...

I watched our division rivals play each other on Monday...and I saw the Browns lose because of a blocked FG that should have never happened. A Raven lined up in the neutral zone when the ball was snapped. No flag. Then, after the block, the returner stepped out of bounds. Totally missed.

On Thursday, the Packers were gifted an opportunity to win the game that they should never have had.

Today, I was watching the Browns and the Bengals. The Browns QB, Davis, was pushed after he had run out of bounds. No flag. Then, on the next play, he took a helmet to helmet hit. No flag.

I turned it off. If I see more poor officiating tonight, like I saw against Seattle and in the last three games I mentioned, that seriously may do it for me.

    And that makes me sad.

Because I do love the game.
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Incidentally, I briefly turned to the Jets game....

Willie Colon, who is on IR, just got flagged for a 15 yard penalty...

    Done until tonight!

Its funny because I read people talking aiut thr college game is bwtter than the NFL but the college game refs are probably worse than the NFL.

I watched UNC recover an onside kick and the replay showed the ref throw a flag BEFORE anyone crossed the LOS and no one was offsides.

There was a play coughlin saying the runner stepped out of bounds. It was only a difference of 4 yards but it was a Gimmie because replayed showed he clearly stepped out of bounds. Not once but twice short of where they spotted the ball.

        After review, the play stood.
        Fouts was dumbfounded.

What might be even more insulting is the NFL leadership (Commish, VP of Ops, Head of officiating) continually speaking out about how the officiating is actually good this year and blown calls are at the same percentage as they have historically been. As if fans don't understand the game at all. A billion dollar industry has part time employees. Ludicrous.

I have turned off off more games this season than ever before because of bad calls. Not just the missed or inconsistent ones but the refs destroy the flow of the game with the number of flags thrown. 5,6 even 7 plays in a row with a flag. The game becomes unwatchable garbage.

The only non-Steelers game I have watched this season is the Packers/Lions on Thursday night. Lions got ripped off on that INT call in the fourth quarter.

Seems like the favored teams get the calls, and the rest of us don't.

The NFL is not what it was. Hard to watch, even the Steelers games.

I'd guess it would be the same reason people watch WWE?

My kids watch that crap. I can't even focus on anything else if that's within earshot...have to go to another part of the house and close the door. They begged me to take them to Smackdown Live once. That's a couple hours of my life I'll never get back. Now their Mom takes them instead whenever they come to town.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.
