Yes, it was a bad decision on Landry's part...he'd have been better off throwing it away. But if Tomlin doesn't make that call, it's not even an issue. You put in your backup QB on a "fake FG play" that is blatantly obvious...you trust him more than your kicker or your starting franchise QB in that spot? It was a big fail at a point when the Steelers seemed to be gathering momentum.

This is the truth. But, he was out there. The bad play call does not excuse the bad decision.

Because I don't do that. Clearly, if you actually read my posts instead of just thinking whatever the hell you want, you would see this.

Let's say that I ask you for directions to some place. Let's say that you screw up the directions. Then, while I'm driving the wrong way, I get ticketed for speeding.

Whose fault is it that I got ticketed?

And you shouldn't throw a pass when the DB is clearly in position to make a play on the ball.

The fake FG was a bad decision by Tomlin.

The INT was a bad decision by Jones.

You are saying it was a good decision? Then you owe all Steeler fans an apology...

Neither am I. I am only blaming him for throwing the INT.

We didnt lose the game because of that play alone.
We score 3 and Seattle most likely drives on our porous D and scores a TD and we only lose by 6

Ummm, can we get back to the OP?

The point is that the defensive scheme was flawed. Sure a form of Cover 3 may have worked. But the Steelers don't have the secondary talent to execute what Seattle's Cover 3 does to their offense. So it was a poor coaching decision to make the secondary do something they were incapable of doing.

Rather than helping the D to succeed, this coaching decision helped them to fail.

Again, the reason you play Cover 3 is to stop the run. They held Rawls, a guy coming off a 200 yard game and averaging over 6 YpC to under 4 YpC...

I just don't think they anticipated such a horrible day by the secondary...

regardless of player execution, did tomlin put the team in the best position to win based on how the game was going?
steelers = 3 ring circus with tomlin being the head clown

At the cost of the opponent QB getting his highest QB rating for the season....

I understand the concept of trying to make an opponent one-dimensional but not to the exclusion of WRs running free in the secondary.

And that's also a factor. Up until 2 weeks ago, Wilson had thrown 10 TDs to 7 INTs. He has been ridiculously hot the last two weeks...

You may be right...it seems everybody knows how horrible the secondary is except for the Steelers' coaching staff.

But, they haven't been as terrible as they were on Sunday. They may have given up some yards, but the defense was not giving up a lot of points and getting some turnovers. On Sunday, they gave up a lot of points and got no turnovers.

I really don't care about yards. People complain how the Steelers gave up almost 1,000 yards passing over the last three weeks...which is terrible, I guess, but when you consider that the Steelers are 2-1 in those games, it provides some context.
