Maurice Jones-Drew predicts a Steelers vs. Patriots AFC title game

What’s not to like about Maurice Jones-Drew? He’s likable, he’s tiny, compact and adorable, and he’s apparently a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, as he selected them as one of the AFC representatives for this year’s AFC Championship Game.

You can probably guess who the other half of that contest will be, but let’s just say it’s the plural version of one of the only good Mel Gibson movies in existence.

Jones-Drew, true to his nature as an analyst, provided support for his reasoning: the two H’s, of course.

The first H, like the movie I referenced earlier, is obvious: it’s all about getting hot! The Steelers have won two games in a row, but more importantly have gotten a healthy (ish) Ben Roethlisberger back into the lineup and have finally taking the training wheels off a fluttering offense.

But the other H, the one that Jones-Drew suggests will aid the Steelers in their imminent run, is “health.” If irony were chocolate, we would all have type 2 diabetes.

The Steelers have been among the unluckiest teams in the entire NFL this season when it comes to staying healthy, as two All-Pros and a darn good starting left tackle are out for the year with injuries while Roethlisberger has missed about five total games with injuries. At 6-4, the Steelers are in a good spot for a playoff run, particularly since the first round game for the No. 5 seed will be a trip to either Houston or Indianapolis, but getting deep into the playoffs will be contingent on a healthy roster.

If that happens though, it’s safe to say the Patriots would rather see a team that didn’t come within a couple botched field goals of making things interesting in Week 1

This has been my prediction since preseason and nothing's changed. I like our chances the second time around as well.

MJD is such a blind Tomlin-loving homer!

I disagree about facing the Boston Cheetahs in the AFC Championship game. As the #5 seed, I think we beat the AFC South winner (Colts or Texans...possibly even the freaking Jaguars at this point...they all have 4 wins right now, and the up-and-coming Bortles is likely the best QB when compared to the ancient Hasselbeck and journeyman Hoyer) in the wild card round, then beat top-seeded New England in the divisional round, and advance to the Super Bowl by beating whoever's left (Bengals or Broncos) in the AFC Championship game.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

If this happens, can the Steelers ever beat the *'s in a championship game? Ugh.

If you mean a football fan of impeccable taste and judgment, then he very well could be!

our DBs will play 10 yards off and brady will take 5 yard passes with YAC over and over... been the same routine for over a decade.
