    Great win BUT....

What's up with the 3rd down offense? Another day <35% efficiency.

I see Roethlisberger is just over 50% completion rate on 3rd <8 yds to go. Seems like a very low number.

That's not the Elephant in the Room.

The Elephant is the pass rush. OK. We had 6 sacks.
But Johnny Foosball's indecision was the main cause for half of those.
Our current pass rush will not take down a franchise QB in the playoffs.

The fact that Jarvis Jones can't keep Anthony Chickillo off the field is concerning.

Heyward, Tuitt and Dupree must carry this defense down the stretch

What in the world did you want from Jarvis yesterday?

He split a sack with Moats and directly caused another by pancaking All-Pro Joe Thomas in the back field where Johnny Foosball tripped over him...AND he recovered a fumble...AND he knocked Hawkins out of the game by crushing him with a block on Mitchell's INT return...

The Browns ran for 15 yards on 14 carries...

This is not the game to criticize Jarvis...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Maybe Foosball's indecision was caused by coverage? I thought the pass rush did pretty well against a guy who is known for his escapability, which he was able to display on several occasions. He escaped several times when many other QBs would have been sacked. So subtract half of the six sacks because they were due to his "indecision" and add back three that would have been sacks against less mobile QBs and it's a wash.

            Of 69 defensive snaps:

            Jones 46 (67%)
            Dupree 38 (55%)
            Moats 33 (48%)
            Chickillo 22 (32%)

Last week against the Raiders there were 70 snaps, Deebo had 39 (56%), Jones had 31 (44%).

It looks like Jones took over JH's snaps, and then some.

Speaking of Dupree,I really like what I've seen of him. His strength and athleticism are obvious. I expect to see more of him, because he's only going to get better.

I still think Jones was a poor #1 pick but agree with Slappy yesterday was not a bad performance. If he did that consistently I wouldn't have my concerns

This couldn't be any further from the truth.

Harrison was out, so Chickillo was a fill-in for the rotation of the OLB's. I knew this would come up when Kaboly tweeted "Chickillo is on the field instead of Jones". He never mentioned that Dupree/Chickillo were the unit that replaced Moats/Jarvis for a few series. You just knew people would read that and jump to conclusions.

Jarvis had a really good game yesterday.

Manziel made some of his throws on the run..
The pass defense is very, very suspect.
Dan Fouts thought the Steelers should use their bye to get their pass defense in order...

Now that they are past the halfway point I thought we'd be seeing Boykin out there. What are they waiting for? They are blowing up my theory on the draft picks.

You don't get drafted in the 1st round to "split" time with 37 yr olds (who Porter said would be used this yr for about 20 snaps/ game) OR late round practice squad players.

When we had real OLBs in the past did they "split time" w/ backups.

Did Woodley and Harrison split time when they were starters???
Really don't recall Greg Lloyd coming off the field so Dante Jones could get some PT.

JJ played his best game yesterday but I really thought he'd see 90% of the snaps. Something tells me the coaching staff doesn't believe in him.

Sorry....... guess my expectations of a 3rd yr mid 1st round pick is A LOT higher than some on here.

The play with Joe Thomas; it seems much more likely that Thomas simply stepped (tripped) wrong, and it looked like he got pancaked. Jarvis has never shown an ability to do that, let alone to a future HOF.

My argument will not hold much water as I am to lazy to do the research. But I think the rotation is part of keeping the olb's fresh for coverages? Are there any other teams that zone there olb's and use a rotation? I do agree JJ is not living up to his draft pick. And I am some what ok with that. Look at what happens with other bust picks that offer nothing! Or one like Woodley that was a monster then fizzled out! Who to say another player at that pick would be all pro? This is a new day and age of pass happy football. I don't think you can have the olb's taking all the snaps in the game. That might have been some of the past issues with this defense sucking it up in the 4th quarter? We always for the most part had stud Olb's taking all the snaps and it might have been a problem in this style of defense the last few years. IMO I hope there is a better rotation at DE next season. It is going to be a long season for 2 young guys but every year they get a little older and could use more breathers. That age thing could also been part of the problem? Oh and I am not sure JJ will ever meet 1st rd expectations! Good thing before him we had an un drafted guy play way above and beyond!

So, if Harrison plays more than 20 snaps a game, it means Jarvis sucks...but then if Chickillo plays only 20 snaps a game (22?) it means Jarvis sucks?
