I thought the play calling was OK. Ben forced an int, but the previous throw to Bryant was brilliant and ought to have gone for a TD.
The calls on O were generally in the range of OK to very good.

The clock management mystified me. After AB's long run at the end, we had the time to trot down and spike the ball. Why use a TO and save time on the clock for the Raiders? The sensible thing was to burn up time and kick an FG. Unless of course the intention was to score a TD, but it wasn't.

I also didn't understand why Woodson brought down AB. Its FG range at that point. The sensible thing for him wouldve been for him to let AB into the EZ and hope Carr gets them downfield to score in the remaining minute..

No... thats bad football. You never know if we will fumble a snap or have a mental error or miss the FG

597 yards on offense and we don't like the play calling. Wow ! I wonder how the raiders liked it?

Oh brother. The Steelers win and this is what we get? Some people will never be happy unless perfection happens every week.

Did you not know this is in spite of the coaches?

True. But with the way the D was playing today, I'd have placed greater odds on Carr scoring than on the Steelers O fumbling a snap or missing a short FG.

LOL... yinz crack me up. All we heard from fans was how predictable the offense and defense had become. Now, we get coordinators that like to mix it up and we start hearing about lack of consistent playcalling.

                shoulda guessed this was coming...

Haley makes his share of poor calls. Just as any other coordinator in the league.

I'm not saying he's the best thing since "sliced bread". But he's not the worst either.

... Bruce Arians was run out of this town because many (including me) didn't think he could get the job done. ...

                  Look at him now.

i normally don't bust on PRO coaches. I figure they know more then I do. But covering a WR with a Timmons is not a high percentage play with your SS blitzing! But I think the defense is working better with a good rotation. Now just need some DL to rotate a little IMO. Oh as far offense. Seems ok, just feed AB! Worked today! With all the different "parts" moving around because of injury it has to be tough and be consistent.

Arians gets the job done, but at what expense? Ben (who ironically has been hurt this year), would be in a retirement home by now, having lived through three years in Arians system. As for Haley, I don't know where the hate for him comes from... on a day he puts up 600 yards!

When his coaching career is over, his resume will show that the Steeler offense under his tenure was: a) among the best in the league, b) the best the Steeler offense will have been in the ten years before and the ten years after, and c) Ben Roethlisberger will be accepting a HOF jacket, in no small part because Haley kept him upright and made him adapt his playing style.

I hope Haley continues 38 points of bad play calling every game.

How in the hell are people still talking about Haley keeping Ben upright when he left on a cart for the second time this afternoon?

Haley gets credit for our O putting up yards but look at BA with Luck and BA in AZ. You really think Ben wouldnt have monster stats with BA these last few years? The new NFL is all about passing yards...

But back to these injuries... seeing that Ben keeps getting hurt in Haleys offense maybe its not Haley or BA but Bens style of football?

You can't prevent injuries. You can lessen the amount of sacks and hits your QB takes.
I don't know the stats but I would guess that Ben's sack rate under Haley is lower than the previous years. Ben takes those years of pounding... who knows where he'd be.

Yes, Ben would put up numbers with Arians like everyone else does. But what is the cost?

It's always been Ben's style of football. It's fun to watch, but it does lend itself to him taking hits he doesn't need to, especially earlier in his career. He'll never be Brady or Manning, never, hoping for that is fool's gold, it's just not happening. I'd hate it if Ben just started taking every underneath pass, curling up in the fetal position so as not to get hit and p1ss and moan at the offensive linemen every time he gets sacked, I'd hate it a lot. Ben makes the game fun and frustrating, but either way its exciting and on Sunday afternoon with another ho-hum week of work ahead of me I like the excitement.

I don't see why this is so hard. BA's system went stale here. His play calling got stale here. His friendship with Ben could have been an issue. Personal could have been a issue. New coach new system new personal. Sometimes better sometimes worse. Just time for a fresh start. Same with ole Dick L. I liked them both for what they did for the steelers. Also I am liking the new coaches. But I am a homer!
