"He's who we thought he was"

Who am I going to apply that Dennis Green quote to?

    LANDRY JONES.

Most of you felt he was a waste a roster spot 10 days ago.
He has a good "partial" game, and the kid is the next S Young behind Montana.

Reality check, his 2 touchdowns were great "receiver" plays.

His play was against a defense prepped for Vick. He was pretty good as a result

Now people saw KC as a lock "in KC".

    Let me ask you all.

If not for the AZ game, how many of you would have been shocked that we lost this game if he had to play?

Fact is Jones is still unproven, good or bad.

But is it just possible that:

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

For the first start of a 4th round pick, I thought it wasn't terrible. I wish he would have taken better care of the ball, but hopefully that will come...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

The first interception was his fault....but the tip by AB and strip sack in garbage time where not his fault.

Overall I thought he played pretty well...It would have been nice if he made a few more plays...The defense let us down this game.

Not to say that Vick wasn't terrible, but you got to give him some credit. He didn't do much, but he made sure to not turn the ball over. Just sayin...

...that being said, "Save us Big Ben Kenobi...you're our only hope!"

I thought Jones for the most part played pretty well. First start, did not have the look of a deer in the headlights. He did throw one pick on him, the other was a good play by two chiefs. The sack was just a new guy getting beat pretty quickly by an experienced NFL rusher. He seemed to have good command of the offense, made a few over throws that took them off the field on third downs. But, lets not forget it was not that long ago Ben was making some of these same mistakes. Strip sacks, hell just loosing the ball to the other team. It has really only been the last couple of years that he has cleaned up his game to the level it is now. So for anyone to say hey the number 3 QB on the depth chart did not perform to the level of a current Ben. Look back just a few years and remember all the turnovers BB was responsible for. Just my 2 pesos

dude's played a total of 5 quarters and his loss was on the road in very hostile stadium for road teams. Are players supposed to be all world right from the start with no leeway? Ben's first couple of games weren't much better. Not to say that we should compare.

let's stay away from the hyperbole and huge expectations for a 4th round pick and keep things in perspective. Nobody was saying anything close. Too funny. This is similar to the Tomlin hater posts predictions following a win that never happen. Off with the tinfoil hats people

The fact that we were in a position to win the game on the road when our defense wasn't exactly dominating makes me think Jones deserves considerations moving forward at the end of the yr.

You miss my point. I said he is unproven good or bad. But we had no basis for the CONFIDENCE based on last week's game.

"I" never had unrealistic expectations and our loss in a hostile environment is no surprise for his first start. Heck that is my point.

As for my "hyperbole" . "Nobody said anything close"? Really? He WAS in fact. compared to Aaron Rogers behind Farve. In that context comparing a Jones to Young is essentially the same thing.

It is this unrealistic expectation based on a third of a game that has people all bent out of shape over this loss.

If you told me when Ben went down that we go 3-2 with Vick and Jones as our QBs ai would take that in a heartbeat.

I agree.....prior to the AZ game.

After last week's game expectation changed Mr "if we go 3 and 1".

Do not insult Landry by even comparing his performance to Vick's. He didn't "make sure he didn't turn the ball over" at all. He had two or three pick sixes that were just dropped by the other team. Vick absolutely embarrassed himself.

Jones was a QB making his first NFL start with a Left tackle making his first start. If you look at it objectively he didn't do too bad. Definitely a bit of hope he can be a solid back up for the next several years. Never will be starter material though.

                          I plead the IF...lol

I expected a W. I really thought our D would shut down the run with Jamaal out. IF our D didn't miss 20 tackles last week I think we pull out a W. I forgot this team still finds ways to lose to struggling teams.
