Tez doesn't know why he's in the doghouse, either. This is like the 3rd player recently to say "ask coach" when reporters ask why they're not practicing or playing. It appears that Tomlin made Blake his personal reclamation project and he's grading him on a severe curve.

I agree with Ovi. And will add Boykin was insurance. The plan my have been for Gay/Allen outside Boykin slot. But I think they ended up using Blake/Cockrell outside with Gay in the slot. Not sure that is better then Gay/Cockrell outside and Boykin slot. But is Boykin better then Gay in the slot is my question? These CB's remind me of the O-line in the past. Always looking for the back up to replace their starter!

That was likely the initial plan, but once here, the camp cut (Cockrell) showed more than the guy they traded for (Boykin). They are playing the best guy, regardless of draft pick equity. What a concept.

When they traded for Boykin, Golson was on his way to IR, Grant was on his was to the PS, Cockrell was still in Buffalo, and Blake/Cortez were question marks at that point. The only guy where they knew what they had at CB was Gay.

If you think Blake is one of their top two CBs you are crazy. He's literally rated 3rd worst in the league out of 109 by Pro Football Focus. They could sign someone off of a practice squad and probably get better coverage.
