D against Ravens ... how were we able to stop them so well in the first half, but ...

How were we able to stop them so well in the first half, but got so chewed up and spit out in the second half?

I know they ran it down our throats in the second half. I can't remember though ... were we able to stop the run in the first half (and if so, why not later?), or was it all pass the first half against our D?

    Thanks for any thoughts -

We got our "6-PACK" - time to work on a CASE!

IIRC they ran it pretty well on their first scoring drive. I also remember a MASSIVE hold in the middle of the line, against #96, on a run up the middle during their second scoring drive that somehow was overlooked. It was a big gain for them.

Because the offense kept doing 3 and out and the defense got worn out which causes missed tackles etc.

Correction, 93 was held on a 12 yd run by buck Allen from the Pitt 27 to the 15 right before the td.

For years and years, Steeler fans cried..."Why oh why are our d-linemen wasted occupying blockers instead of being allowed to attack upfield?" Well, now, they are allowed to attack upfield, essentially playing the run on the way to the quarterback like those horrible Colts run defenses do, and what happens? Forsett busts through the line untouched on numerous occasions for big gains. One gapping gets you more sacks from your DL, but two gapping is more sound against the run. It wasn't Flacco that beat us in this game...
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

because our offense played not to lose football after our last TD.

Also a long run where Timmons was held while Ravens ran right.

Meh - why wasn't Carlos Hyde able to run on them?

It was one bad game out of four for the run defense. Also missing their tackling machine ILB.

Probably because Ben was calling the plays in the SF game and forced SF to change their game plan.

and SF flew east for a 1PM game

                  and SF sucks..

McCullers was the missing link. They miss Big Dan.
