    Positives from Th. night

I thought the O line did well, Ben had a lot of time, and of course they opened some nice holes for Deangelo Williams.

Also ... JJ and Shazier looked ok, "arrow pointing up".

DHB, except for the brain dead foot on the line play, looked like a good weapon, as well as Wheaton.

Ben threw a couple of beautiful rainbows, I think he's answered the questions about whether that is in his skill set.

    How's that for a start!?

The main positive for me is that we didn't get blown out against the SB champs at home, when they had something to prove. We had the Pats worried when it looked like we would make it 21-18.

While we have a lot of room for improvement, I think we will improve, because it's a Steeler team and we rarely implode as a team. Too much pride.

I disagree with you on Roethlisberger going long. That INT was classic Roethlisberger up for grabs.

      I'll add:

      Heath was Heath...that was good.

The punter, Berry, didn't embarrass himself. That was good.

Landry Jones wasn't active. That was good.

Wheaton dropped several balls - he doesn't look like he's taken that next step, as promised, this season.

Frankly, before the game I saw it as a blowout. How about this?

                1) After SF, we no longer have to hope that Williams doesn't have anything left.

                2) After Baltimore we no longer have to worry which of Wheaton or DHB is the best to start opposite Brown.

I'd agree with all of these. I saw Jarvis Jones getting a good push and showing a nice bend as a pass rusher - more than I've seen from him before. Dupree with a sack in his first game was also a nice start.

In addition to these, I'll add that it looks like Butler can call a nice DB blitz. We saw a few in the preseason and a nice blitz on the Allen sack.

I don't mean to poo poo your observations because I've heard these same ones around this message board...but those instances were either isolated or few and far between. There was exactly one well orchestrated DB blitz (which I blame on Brady more than give credit to the blitz). The fact that we are applauding Jones because he showed on a couple plays he belongs on the field is troubling. Dupree is very blessed athletically. He has a very high ceiling so I'm excited for him. DHB is getting blasted for God forbid barely having his foot on the chalk. Sadly he's better than Wheaton ever will be. I wish Timmons was 20lbs lighter like he used to be so he could keep up with TE better. Seems like once he got his contract he let himself go. He used to be the kind of LB that was great in space. Not so much anymore. So not exactly sure who would have been better at covering Gronk at the goal line. The score was only close because of the garbage TD. If NE had wanted they could have kept embarrassing our D. At least our O line looked great minus Gilbert.

DHB better than Wheaton?? Making statements like these don't make it true. Last season DHB had a higher drop % than Wheaton. Wheaton also had a higher catch % than DHB. The year before, with Luck throwing him the ball, DHB catch rate was even lower.

sure are. Wake me when Wheaton has a a 64 catch 975 yards 15.2 ypc with 4 TD season on a terrible team with no QB. So what are you basing your ahole on?
