Now maybe it's just me, but I'm not quite understanding why people are so upset over this loss. To be sure, I'm not thrilled either, but I don't see why people seem primed to give up on the season after the team lost one game which they had (quite frankly) every reason in the world to lose. I mean, be honest with yourself, even after Thursday night's performance, if the tables were turned, the Steelers had all their starters on offense, the game was in Pittsburgh, and Gronk wasn't starting, does anyone here really believe this team wouldn't blow them away (and I'm talking at least three scores by games end)? In short, I can't tell you guys what to do [think], but could you try and wait for the team to start losing games they should win before starting your doomsday forecasts? Seriously, just look back to what some of you were saying at this time last year...talk of firing Haley and the team possibly being the worst in the league. From where I'm sitting, holding a team like NE to 28 is more than good enough for this team to beat them when Bell and Bryant are back in the lineup and the fact they were capable of doing so away from Heinz Field this early in the season (even with all the blunders and miscues) is an encouraging sign. The defense will get better as the season goes on and the offense will again be one of the best (if not the best) in the league once all of the requisite players return to the fold. *end rant*

agreed.
i am happy with the loss. i think our players are all pros and the coaches are the best in the game. play calls were perfect on both sides. time management was spot on. i wouldnt change a thing. i really dont see us losing another game all season. i am proud of their effort and think they are all winners for trying their hardest.
if it wasnt for the refs, we would have easily won the gamesteelers = 3 ring circus with tomlin being the head clown -

No, I do not believe we would beat the Pats at home if Gronk wasnt playing and we had all our weapons on offense. Now maybe it's just me, but I'm not quite understanding why people are so upset over this loss. Eldelman had 15 catches and talked trash after every reception. Dion Lewis would kill us all day in the flat and it would be the same result... probably worse.
Our D cant cover the dink and dunk... if we cant find Geonk bwfoe the snap what makes you think it would be any different without him? Someone else on their team would be the focal point and we would fail to stop it because right now our DB's dont have a clue.Steelers 27

All I know, with all the negativity on this board, it's gonna be fun bumping this thread several months from now when this same Pats team (who everyone here apparently has a raging erection for) get's washed in the playoffs. You don't have to believe me now, just remember you heard it here first.Comment

Despite numerous unfortunate circumstances, there are plenty of positives to take away from this game. We will have a good team this year.
In the game day chat i heard people calling for Tomlin's, Colberts, and Butlers heads. It was borderline comical if it hadnt been so asinine.sigpic

most have been anticipating the demise of our defense based on their preseason performances and the Pats game was just confirmation. Several years ago they needed to address their secondary in a meaningful way because Ike and Troy were aging and getting ineffective. Nothing seemed to be getting done in that department until this draft when they took Golson and subsequently acquired Boykins and Cockrell. We know Golson won't contribute and undoubtedly the other two are still learning the playbook so prospects don't look so hot. Despite this most are still optimistic the Steelers can win 9+ games and threaten to make the playoffs. You are spot on that there is every reason to think these players will get better based on their talent. The coaching though leaves many like myself skeptical. Now maybe it's just me, but I'm not quite understanding why people are so upset over this loss. I'm not sure where you are thinking there's doom and gloom. I've only read about dissatisfaction with our defense based on coaching and F.O. failures which is deserved and understandableComment

I don't believe the Steelers team that played on Thursday playing the way they did on Thursday would beat the Pats, regardless of who else was playing on our side, who was not playing for the Pats, and where the game was played. Now maybe it's just me, but I'm not quite understanding why people are so upset over this loss. It was poor coaching, poor execution, and poor finishing.
I fully expect things to turn around in a game or two, when they get settled together, and I expect a 11-5 season. But on Thursday they were going to lose, no matter what.Comment

lmao. The Pats were working without their starting RB (probably no longer after Lewis emergence) and had rookies on their line. I'm actually surprised they played as well as they did. A couple of holding calls that didn't get flagged on the outside accounted for several big runs. They will only get better as the season goes along like us. Also, they've proven to find new and creative ways to bend or skirt the rules so you have to account for that too.All I know, with all the negativity on this board, it's gonna be fun bumping this thread several months from now when this same Pats team (who everyone here apparently has a raging erection for) get's washed in the playoffs. I think they could end up being better than last year and not get 11 wins. Schedule is insane.I don't believe the Steelers team that played on Thursday playing the way they did on Thursday would beat the Pats, regardless of who else was playing on our side, who was not playing for the Pats, and where the game was played.

After SF, @STL, Balt, @SD, AZ, @KC.
SF *should* be a win, but I can't say that about any of the other games. I can't see how they will be better than 4-3 after that stretch.Comment
