The Pats** did not stop the Steelers. The Steelers stopped the Steelers. Tomlin didn't coach Scobee to miss those FGs. Nor did he coach DHB to step on the chalk in the EZ. I strongly doubt the game plan included leaving Gronkowski uncovered. I'm almost positive that he didn't coach the players to force a fumble and then lose track of the ball, allowing the Pats** to recover on the 6 inch line.

The FG misses aren't on the coach, unless he calls for 55-yarders into the wind.

But they continue to exhibit the traits of a poorly coached team - can't line up correctly, bad clock mgmt, pre snap penalties, insane playcalling at the worst times. Meanwhile, the Pats** start three rookies on the middle of their OL and coach around them. Quick passes, no huddle, exposing Steeler weaknesses on D until they stop it, which they never could.

It will take more than tired cliches to fix those things.

And yet, if the players do what they are supposed to, the Steelers could have won...

I agree, and that is encouraging. But until we have players that can execute 100% without mistakes, we'll have to find a way to win.

We don't need 100% mistake free football. But, screwing up the obvious and easy things kill a team.

Should we ignore the ridiculous success tied to drafting receivers? Timmons? Heyward? Shazier I believe is going to be a tackle/turnover machine. Tomlin is our coach, he's going to be out coach until he retires if I had to bet right now. Check the guys coaching record and maybe give it a rest. I'm not saying people can't be upset but damn is it getting old to read it all the time.

Maybe Shamarko gets a chance next week, because the Steelers' safeties sucked vs. the *'s. As a starter, Will Allen would make a good backup. And I imagine we'll hear that Mitchell has pulled another groin. There'll be some excuse.

yup, but that is the problem Slap. Our players continue to not do what they are paid to do.

I would put Thomas in. If they thought Allen would improve communication in the secondary, then they thought wrongly...

Shamarko Thomas says he’s engaged, improved

The timing is both convenient and familiar as he enters the final year of his rookie contract, but Steelers safety Shamarko Thomas has vowed to be a factor for the Steelers in 2016.

After two seasons playing mostly on special teams and seeing the front office bring in players to play ahead of him, Thomas said he had “some angry moments” when he didn’t win a starting job before last season, and that his disappointment and struggles affected his appetite, his ability to sleep and his attitude.

“Definitely after a year like that, you want to come out here and make plays,” Thomas told ESPN. “Pay attention to detail. Have fun out here like I used to.”

The Steelers traded up in the fourth round in 2013 to select Thomas. He’s made just two career starts, both in his rookie season, but said he doesn’t believe the team has given up on him because coach Mike Tomlin continues to stress the importance of Thomas doing “the little things” the right way.

Earlier this month, Steelers secondary coach Carnell Lake told reporters Thomas “is improving from the neck up” and “growing and developing a player.”
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Interesting if he can considering that this is a guy who almost nobody has any expectations of heading into this year.
