Heard someone in another thread say he was awful.
Disappointed
that was me. He looked lost out there. This is yet another failed defensive back draft pick. Seriously, what is going on with Colbert and Tomlin when it comes to the secondary?
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers' eight-player draft isn't a hot mess solely because of Doran Grant's release, but because of the current status of the rookie class as a whole.
Half the class has little to no chance of playing inside Heinz Field in 2015, and the other half is hardly a guarantee for instant impact.
Three of the team's eight picks were cut this weekend, including fourth-rounder Grant and sixth-round pass-rusher Anthony Chickillo. Forcing the cuts were the additions of running back Jordan Todman and defensive end Caushaud Lyons, addressing two thin positions.
It's not uncommon to cut draft picks.
But a primary focus for the Steelers in the 2015 draft was bolstering the cornerback position. With Grant waived and second-rounder Senquez Golson on injured reserve, the Steelers essentially get no rookie help on that front. Can it be that difficult to draft impact corners? According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the Steelers have drafted a corner in the fourth or fifth round of the past three years, and all three didn't make it a year.
With Chickillo and seventh-round safety Gerod Holliman also released, that leaves four picks left on the current 53-man roster, none of which are surefire hits. None will start unless first-rounder Bud Dupree gets the nod over Arthur Moats, who probably has the edge right now. Dupree has done some good things and should have a bright future in Pittsburgh, but not to the point yet where the Steelers can say, "Now that's a double-digit sack guy -- no doubt about it."
Third-round receiver Sammie Coates has flashed potential but is far from a finished product. When asked directly about Coates' impact, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said Darrius Heyward-Bey would see an elevated role. Didn't even mention Coates. That can't be good.
That leaves fifth-round tight end Jesse James, who's more on the developmental side. He's a big red zone target with good hands, though. Roethlisberger likes his game.
This class hasn't reached dumpster fire status yet. But it is starting to feel the blaze.

I remember thinking that this would be a great draft class. Somehow 3 of the guys we drafted didn't even make the practice squad.
Lake has managed to get DB after DB cut. 3 years in a row and we draft a db and every year they get cut. awesome
so out of our 3 of our db picks, 1 is out hurt and 2 didnt even make the practice squad.
how is that possible?
these guys were super picks according to our board experts.......
steelers = 3 ring circus with tomlin being the head clown
We signed Ross Cockrell and traded for Brandon Boykin. I would wager a few of these guys will end up on the practice squad. Chick needs work against the run and holliman was a flyer from the get go because of his inability to tackle. I know its easy to play arm chair quarterback but I don't understand why people freak the fvck out before the regular season even begins. Beyond that who the hell cares where a player is drafted. I bet most myself included never expected beachum to be out starting left tackle and we drafted him at the end of day three. The team will be fine. Let's see how they do in the regular season.

The people who seem to care the most are the people who wanted a certain player or position selected. The draft has always been a crap shoot. It's one reason why rosters turnover every 4 or 5 seasons. For that reason one or two bad drafts doesn't necessarily kill a team.
The Steelers appear to have a good core group of players in which they can build around on offense and defense. The thing that matters most is that the Steelers are able to field a competent and competitive team.

Don't try to dial down the hysteria. Its too much fun to watch and read. The reality is Chickillo faded as camp went on, Grant was never more than average and Holimann never got on the field and everyone is acting like they were keys to the Super Bowl.

Yeah, those board experts with both Golson and Grant in their signature...who would that be?
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.
