    NE

Looks like there wasn't a settlement today with the league and *
Wonder if the NFL will be forced to reduce it by the judge.
And completely OT, did you know that Sara Kosar, the daughter of Bernie, does porn?

Regardless, there will be an appeal process for either side. I think it would be fantastic if Brady ended up suspended for the playoffs or the end of the regular season if it is competitive...

wait, so he doesn't have to miss the first 4 games since there wasn't a decision?

man, all this means is he will get this overturned sometime during the regular season. He won't miss any games.

There was no settlement. The judge can rule against the NFL or for them. In any case, the ruling will be appealed by one side or the other.

I would imagine that if there is an appeal that he will play week one. I hope Jimmy Hate rips him in two.

If the judge rules against Brady, I think they would have to get another judge to order an injunction that would stay the suspension pending appeal. If they can't find a judge to do that, Brady's appeal would be to "clear his name" and get back the games checks he missed.

              Over/under on Brady QB'ing the 1st game?

I bet 80% chance he is the starting QB week 1.

I read that the only thing the judge will decide as early as tomorrow is whether Goodell had the authority to mete out punishment, NOT whether the punishment was appropriate. In other words, did the Patriots (and therefore Brady), by signing the CBA, agree to give Goodell the authority to punish, or is he attempting to punish without having that authority.

Whether the punishment is appropriate or not is NOT at issue here, according to what I read.

I think the CBA, which was ratified by 31 teams, pretty clearly gives him that authority. It was a huge sticking point in the negotiations and the players (most of them...not the Steelers) caved.

Actually ALL the other teams caved. Steelers were the only team to vote "no"/against it.

Its what makes Kraft such a hypocrite. As long as old Roger was running around pulling punishments out of his backside and applying them haphazardly to other teams it was no issue at all for NE. Now.... It's "not right". What a joke.

Does it matter who starts for them week 1? Whoever it is will meet little resistance from the Steelers' defense. With two of our biggest offensive weapons and Pouncey missing, I'd love to see the Steelers come out and try to shorten the game by running down the Pats' throat. Williams, Johnson, and Archer for a change of pace. Ball control passing.

Then blitz every play on defense.

We need to have long drives in that Thursday night game to have a chance to win and few turnovers or forget it.....

Brady will play. Bank on it. If he loses, he appeals and gets to pick which games he misses. He won't want to miss the PS, not least because Belichick maintains a special spot in his inky black heart for the Steelers as the reason he was run out of Cleveland/Baltimore.

I don't think he'll get to pick his games. He may be able to delay the suspension during the appeal.
