He also said they have to examine it from a coaching standpoint...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

All I know is when I saw the Fred Jackson run to start the game I thought to myself "our secondary is SLOW"

We also lack a play maker. We ran the only one we had off to retirement.

I suspect Butler is in the hotseat before his first real game.

If Troy could run, he wouldn't be retired.

I'd guess not in the eyes of the FO. If we do have little to no talent on the D side of the ball, they're smart enough to know that can't be fixed by coaching. And if we do have young talent, they're smart enough to know it's not going to look great in the 3 or 4th preseason game.

You guys from Pgh - what is the press saying about the D, the ones that aren't employed by Steelers.com?

bs Tomlin wants to make a mark on the team and he wants to do it with his own players. Unfortunately he forgot to replace the guys that needed to be replaced in order to keep the team competitive.

Tomlin already made his mark on the team. In 2008.

I think you're saying Troy was forced out but shouldn't have been, and others who remained on the team weren't forced out but should have been?

Sorry if I got that wrong, but if I got it right - who are you referring to that is still on the defense that should have been forced out before Troy?

Close, but not quite. I think they forced Troy out with no solid plan for replacing him. I also think he was still our best guy in the secondary.
I know they've tried to replace guys as they're retiring, they've just done a terrible job developing them. JJ hasn't progressed. SThomas hasn't progressed. Shazier looks like he can do it, but i'm definitely not sure. JW was definitely not the long term answer for losing Woodley. Our corners are a mess.
I like JJ. I THINK he'll be good. he needs work though
I like our DL, though I think McCullers is the answer there.
I think Bud will be a stud.
Our front seven has been so bad at stopping the run that they've had to move Troy up to the box. We won't even have that this year.
