Steelers’ Martavis Bryant appealing substance-abuse suspension

Posted by Michael David Smith on August 27, 2015, 2:50 PM EDT

Steelers receiver Martavis Bryant is facing a potential four-game suspension.

Bryant is currently appealing a suspension under the league’s substance-abuse policy, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The Steelers selected Bryant with a fourth-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft. As a rookie, Bryant didn’t play at all in the first six games but showed great promise down the stretch, catching 26 passes for 549 yards (a whopping 21.1 yards a catch), with eight touchdowns. This year the Steelers were expected to get Bryant even more involved in their passing game.

Instead, the Steelers may have to plan for a month without Bryant’s services.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I guess it's now more likely that a C.J. Goodwin, Shakim Phillips, or Tyler Murphy make the 53 man roster behind Brown, Wheaton, DHB, and Coates for the first month.

Tough blow. That means he won't be facing the Ravens (Wk 4).
So who will be the #3? Coates? DHB?

Substance abuse policy and performance enhancing drug policy are two different things. It would appear that he was doing the ol' Santonio wake and bake.

More of that Tomlin 'leadership' for you. Remember? That thing all his fans say is his biggest strength? He's a player's coach! So sad

Can we start performing electric shock treatment to players that make bad decisions? I hear Mike Vick is good at performing that type of treatment.
Tomlin: Let's unleash hell and "mop the floor" with the competition.

Maybe that's why they brought him on board.

Unless Tomlin was personally puffing and passing with Martavis prior to this drug test, what does he have to do with this all? Coaches are supposed to follow all of his players around all offseason 24 hours a day?

Totally stupid post. Tomlin is his football coach not his mother, father or babysitter. You do realize that NFL players don't live with their coaches don't you?
