Played at Georgia. One year remaining on contract. Nickel corner. Slight frame (5'10, 180ish). Decent ballhawk. Had 6 picks 2 years ago. Wants a chance to start, but really doesn't have the strength to take on big receivers.

We now lead the league in nickel corners!
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.

Does this mean that Golson's injury is more serious than originally thought? Or are we simply trying to improve the secondary?

Sounds like Golson could be out for a significant length of time, potentially for the season. There have been rumblings among several of the beat guys.

i don't know much about Boykin either. I saw several of the national reporters saying it was a great deal for the Steelers, especially if they can extend his deal and keep him for a few seasons.

Yep. Can't see them making this deal unless they were pretty sure Golson was a goner for quite a while.

We clearly lacked quality depth at cb. Gay, C Allen, Blake then ? Now Webb, Golson and Grant may all turn out well but today we have a bunch of question marks. For that matter Allen is a question mark. Grant has looked more then okay at camp....quick twitch type of player but it's early.
Giving up a 5th is not a high price tag.

What happened to Golsen? I can't believe I missed his injury report.

Curious about this as well. Was this a pre draft injury as David Todd suggests? Did the steelers not do their homework on this kid?

lots of fans , including myself, thought he was a reach in the 2nd. Not a good way to start a career if he is sidelined for an entire year as some are speculating

I hadn't heard anything about a pre-draft injury. I'd thought he injured it during mini-camp/OTA's.

Looking at another board I found that he has a shoulder injury. Nobody seemed sure the extent of it, but this headline might be the clue.

It is weird that there doesn't seem to be more definitive word on his condition so far. The scuttlebutt does seem to say though, that he's done for the year. Really sucks. I hope that it is something that he can rehab so that he can be a factor for us at some point this year. It would be nice if he got his feet wet this year.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

The key word is fans. Not scouts. They did their homework, it's why they drafted one of the most dynamic DBs in the draft.

                            So you say Shawn

most people projected golson as a 3rd or 4th round prospect. You can call him the most dynamic DB in the draft and others can say he is too small to ever be more than a slot corner.

I hope we find out when this apparently serious shoulder injury occured

I watched him play big and challenge tall WRs including our own Coates. The guy despite his size is a scrapper with hops. I don't doubt his ability or that if he can get on the field he will be the best DB we have in quick order.
