Quite possible, but the coaches have a lot more inside info than we do. They would know if he was "too injured to play" but kept going out there and trying until the coaches finally yanked him. What if his injury was such that he was able to run and keep pace with a receiver, but gave him such limited mobility that he was unable to turn to track the ball and make a play on it? As fans, we do not know if he was injured, nor the nature and severity of an injury that may have existed. Coaches would be more privy to that.

Not saying that being injured last season means that he will automatically become a star this year, but it definitely would help to explain why he might have been as bad as he was last year.
