    K Train's Final Mock

Never have I felt like I got every pick wrong before lol. Impossible to read this draft and how it is going to play out.

    1) Shane Ray, OLB, Mizzou
I am pretty sure my lust for Ray couldnt be documented better on the internet. The only way I wont actually cry would be if hes taken before the steelers pick. If he is picked by the steelers real, genuine tears of joy shall flow....if hes passed by the steelers I will cry hateful tears. Ray instantly adds a pass rush element to the defense, even if he sits out on the PUP for 5 weeks It would be short sighted to pass on him because he cant play september football.

Other possibilities: Randy Gregory, Marcus Peters, Kevin Johnson, Eli Harold, Owa Odighizuwa, Maxx Williams

    2) Eric Rowe, CB/S, Utah
I really like Rowe, hes a corner that hits very hard. He may end up being a FS but after looking at him for a while I do believe he can play CB, and that may actually be his best position. I dont think we are looking at a day one starter with him, but he doesnt need to be despite popular opinion that the defense needs to be blown up and have a ROTY hero on it. Good, physical player that can play bump and run and sit in zones as well. Honestly he may be long gone by now, but theres a possibility that the more "physically gifted" players like Byron Jones and Jalen Collins go first.

Other possibilities: Clive Walford, Jalen Collins, Byron Jones, Nate Orchard, Josh Shaw, Damarious Randall, Quinton Rollins

    3) Lorenzo Mauldin, OLB, Louisville
Mauldin is a violent guy on the field...plays angry. Has some good quickness to him, quite stiff and didnt run fast but when you watch him he looks more like a speed rusher than his times would suggest. Really he is a solid, middle of the pack OLB prospect that has decent starter potential but probably isnt going to be a star. Extremely high character too for what it is worth.

Other possibilities: Markus Golden, Alex Carter, Jaquiski Tartt, David Cobb, TJ Yeldon, Stephon Diggs, Henry Anderson

    4) Jeff Heuerman, TE, Ohio St.
Completely underused in Meyers offense and that is going to be a blessing for whoever gets him after he slides. He has soft hands and is a pretty good blocker. Could be an heir apparent to Heath. Really they arent dissimilar as players either.

Other possibilities: Doran Grant, Senquez Golson, Steven Nelson, Tre McBride, Sean Hickey

    5) Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, CB, Oregon
Word is the injury is more serious than originally thought, he was walking around at the combine IIRC and while that is no indication of his ability to play football, the Lattimore-like comparisons might just be his camp trying to keep him out of the top 3 rounds so he can collect his $3 million in tax free insurance policy. All speculation though and probably misguided speculation at that.

    6) Cody Prewitt, FS, Ole Miss
A demanding leader on the field, really kind of played a free lance role in 2013 but more disciplined in 2014. Pretty poor workouts but Ive heard he is a real student of the game when it comes to preparing. I think prior to his poor combine he could have been a second round pick as either a single high or two deep defender, hes not the type of safety you want manning up on a slot though. Ive heard the word soft thrown around with him and I dont see that....vs Bama he stones Yeldon in the open field and vs LSU he was quite literally everywhere.

    6) Karlos Williams, RB, Florida State
Vinces younger brother, good size and speed, limited vision, nice depth though. Dont expect him to be a star RB but hes a guy that could be a reliable backup.

    7) Audrey Walker, G, USC
Under the radar pick of a guard that was hurt for most of the season.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Aundrey is offended that you gave him a girl's name!
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.

If Ray is there and we pass, he'd better have an earthworm molesting charge getting ready to come out and if Rowe is still available when we pick in the second you take him.

I can dig it... Mine is similar in thought... (swung for Gregory instead of Ray)... I have a feeling we're all headed down the same path...

I like it. A few picks match between you & me- I just have them going earlier. But I have to agree, if Ray is there, you don't pass on him. I wonder how many teams ahead of us will think the same thing though.
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

I could see both Ray and Gregory falling out of the top 20...then the Bengals take one of them at 21 and we take the other one at 22. Our old pal Marvin Lewis would essentially be deciding which pass rusher we get.

This might be the most important draft we've had since Ben. I just want the best player available no matter what. I usually put positional needs at the forefront but honestly we need to find a few studs on D and if we hit, we stand a good chance of competing for a ring over the next 5 years.

Fresh on the heels of the Bell and Blount incident and the suspension Bell is facing I'd be really surprised to see the Steelers take Ray. I think they would take Peters before him if they choose from the available problem children. Still would prefer Owa Odi as a more mature, solid performer at #22.

I'm really not convinced the D is THAT far away.

There are studs along the DL, the ILB's are good (be it an improving Shazier or Vince Williams). They were not getting 'blown away' last year. The Steelers have been building the D with some fairly high Draft picks, 3 1st round LB's, Heyward in the 1st, Tuitt in the 2nd, Shamarko in the 3rd. Imagine if Jones starts to meet the expectations, or if Heyward & Tuitt create even more pressure next year. Imagine if Cortez comes back where he was before last season.

Yes, there are a lot of questions. But a Defense with Heyward, Tuitt, Timmons, Shazier/Williams, Gay & McLendon, with the potential of Jones, Cortez & Shamarko- that's not a bad start. Mitchell in his second year with us, Moats too. It's not a "wow" defense, yet. But it could be once that potential is reached.
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

With all the Ray coverage you'd think he murdered a guy

I don't think GMs care about this. Ray is a good kid from what I've heard. He'll be in the program now so there goes his recreational smoking when all of his teammates are sparking up. This is really a non story, a speeding and lane violation with weed in the car....spare me
