    What to do with Beachum???

He is in the last year of his contract and PFF has him as the 5th best LT. If we re-signed him it would be very lucrative for him. He would be the 4th OL we would be paying over 6 mil per.......

Can we coach up another prospect andreplace him or let Adams take over one of the T spots?

Can we afford to pay him? Thoughts?

He's a true technician. I do believe Munchaks scheme helps hide his flaws. He struggles in run blocking but he seals perfectly on that counter run that they run so much with decastro just a wrecking ball around the side. He only really struggled against Michael Johnson this year and he frustrated the hell out of Suggs. I don't really think he commands top dollar, and if he does and leaves I don't think he will be as good for the team that pays. Munchak magic fairy dust is a real thing, he manufacturers pro bowl caliber players out of players with physical limitations....speaks volumes about his ability as a coach I am completely thrilled he is here.

Very interesting to see what he's going to command, but if he gets Gilbert money it's not the worst thing...steelers have cap room and the cap is increasing quite a bit. Decastros is the more important signing I believe but he's under contract for a full two seasons longer

We have cap space. Offer him what we gave Gilbert starting this year.
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.

You'd like to keep him, for sure. But in the same breath- he's a replaceable part in that he isn't the 'greatest' player by any stretch. As K Train said- he's a smart technician. If they wanted to, the Steelers could replace him with a better talent this year in Round 1 (Jake Fisher?) and they'd likely improve. The question then becomes, how much do you pay for a good, but replacable part?

Gilbert money would be fair, I'd imagine.

I'm not yet giving up on Adams however...
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

        Light up the darkness.

Re-sign him..unless Peat or Collins drops to us at #22. I would then say either Beachum gets let go or he bumps to left guard..kicking Foster to the curb.

He gets extended and/ or re-signed.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

In that instance I think Collins would play guard. Beachum would be incredibly miscast at guard. It would hide his strengths and highlight his weaknesses.

              Peat is just always underwhelming

I love jake fisher, but a name that doesn't get mentioned much is Cedric ogbuehi. I've been on record saying how terrible he was, but I was talking about him when he was hyped as a top 5 pick. He's a guy that could sit and would be an excellent fit down the road....and could probably be had in the 3rd or 4th

I have no problem with this.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I don't care what PFF says, Beachum is not one of the elite LTs in the league...

No he is not, but I dont think its fair to look at him and be like "hes short, he cant be one of the best OTs"

He is a freaky kind of athlete, very rare for an offensive lineman (Pouncey and Decastro are in that tier of raw athleticism as well...this oline can MOVE down the field). His athletic ability mixed with his technical ability, and then finally the brilliant scheme makes him a PFF gold mind.

Who is better, Beachum or Gilbert? Sure gilbert played well and certainly looks the part more but Beachum is the clear choice right now all things considered...but it is important that all things be considered

You gotta try to keep the man. You much rather pay a guy who just "gets the job done" than a guy who looks the part (who maybe doesn't). What also helps Beachum is that he has a good head on his shoulders (not a prerequisite for an NFL player by any means... but a position like OL or QB, it is). He is intelligent and mature. I don't break the bank for him, but I pay him like the team did when they inked AB to a reasonable and substantial contract (same one he's trying to get out of now). At the time, some might have said it was too much for a 6th round pick smurf who had a good not great season.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

I think the reason Beachum gets short changed on the board is because of his draft status. We all just assume that because he wasn't a 1st, 2nd or 3rd round selection that he can be upgraded easily. When in reality, he played very well last year and certainly seems determined to get better. You can't have Probowlers and All-Pros up and doewn your lineup, Beachum is one of those guys that's good and fits what the Steelers do. Keep him and pay him appropriately.
