Then take the best available pass rusher in round 1, then Rowe in round 2.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment

I had Rowe in my mock as a 4th rounder but his stock has climbed. He is a 2nd rounder at worst. I think its his floor now after the combine is what has his stock on the rise. At the very least you get your worth in a FS because he played there 3 years & was productive. I could see the luv the Steelers have for him. A S that covers like a CB or a CB who supports like a S. Steelers could use "both" of those guys.Comment

Rowe doesn't look great in tackling. His form stinks. I'd be surprised if the steelers spent a 2nd on him.Comment

i mentioned in another thread the Steelers were very high n Rowe.Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!
I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.Comment

Here is what nfl.com's draft profile says about Rowe (courtesy of the son of our former pervy coach Larry Zeirlein):
The main issue seems to be with his deep speed, but it looks like he had an awfully good combine performance to alleviate any questions about his overall speed and athleticism (4.45 sec. 40, 19 reps at 225 lbs., 39" vertical, 125" broad jump, 6.70 sec. 3 cone, 3.97 sec. 20 yd. shuttle, 11.48 sec. 60 yd. shuttle). He may not be a shut down man-to-man guy that teams are looking for with their top picks, but an intinctive zone corner with size, speed, and ball skills sounds like just what the doctor ordered. And if, for whatever reason, it does not work out at corner in the pros, then he has experience as a 3 year starter at FS before moving to CB, and we also need a FS, since most of the safeties on our roster at present project more as SS types.Strengths
Tall cornerback with long frame. Has the ability to disrupt wide receivers off the line of scrimmage and can mirror them out of their release. Jams and disrupts shallow crossers. Will throw his body around in run support if needed. Solid tackler. Attacks ball at catch point and makes it hard for receiver to finish the catch. Was a three-year starter at free safety before moving to cornerback this year. Can break hard on throws in front of him. Instinctive in zone with ball skills to match.
Weaknesses
Linear body type with average play strength. Will struggle to carry NFL deep speed. Lacks an accelerator and is not a recovery-type cornerback. Limited as a man-cover corner. Has change-of-direction issues in tight spaces. Plays into boundary too often. Had to fight through a leg issue at one point during the 2014 season. Likely a scheme-specific player.
Sources Tell Us
"He's a long-strider with limited deep speed, so I see him as a Tampa-2 guy or maybe fitting with a defense similar to Seattle's where he has a good free safety helping over the top." -- AFC directer of college scouting

Pierre Desir
Bottom Line
Rowe won't be for everyone. Scouts have concerns about his deep speed and he's not a guy who can match and mirror in coverage. However, Rowe will be a nice fit for defenses looking for a long defender with disruptive downfield traits.

I like him as a FS, always have...combine got people lumping him in with CBs and I dont really agree with that.
But the steelers defense he probably could play CB, but he has been traditionally a good outside man to man CB and running fast at the combine doesnt change thatComment

Now this I could stand behind. IMO, Rowe isn't this instinctive quick twitch DB. He will struggle with those quick twitch WRs. IMO, he isn't an elite level DB talent. He may become a decent #2 with time. But, I do agree with you his skills translate better as a FS.I like him as a FS, always have...combine got people lumping him in with CBs and I dont really agree with that.
