The bad news with Worilds retirement
Mar 12, 2015
First of all, I wish Worilds the best of luck in his future endeavors going forward. I am surprised that more players don't get out before injuries take their toll. I also applaud him not signing a deal and then retiring a few months or a year later and leaving a team hanging or trying to get a signing bonus back. In my opinion he handled the situation as well as someone can. I also don't buy it that his market value played a role in his decision. If he was willing to retire for 5-6 mil/yr then I doubt he would have stayed for 8 mil/yr. That said the bummer in the way things worked out is that the Steelers lose a possibly nice comp pick for losing Worilds. I never had much hope that we could afford him going forward.
The thought of a possible 4th round pick in 2016 was intriguing. Oh well, easy come easy go.

If we are now in the business of getting rid of threads regarding guys that the Steelers have no chance of signing, shouldn't threads about retired players like Worilds be gone first ahead of threads about active players like Revis and Bush?
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment
