So Glad the Steelers Shipped This Dude & Kept Brown

Dolphins wideout Mike Wallace was benched for quitting on the team Week 17 against the Jets, according to the NFL Network.

Wallace reportedly told head coach Joe Philbin he no longer wanted to play in the game after tight end Charles Clay caught a touchdown at the end of the first half. Wallace did not make an appearance the rest of the contest, and was held without a catch during the game. He received just one target.

Wallace finished the season with 67 catches for 872 yards and 10 scores. Wallace is under contract for three more seasons.

Teammates angry at Mike Wallace for pulling himself from game

Posted by Michael David Smith on December 28, 2014

Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace may have some fences to mend with his teammates in the offseason.

Many players on the Dolphins are angry at Wallace because he told coach Joe Philbin he wanted out of today’s game, according to Jeff Darlington of NFL Network. Several different players told Darlington they feel that Wallace’s actions were tantamount to abandoning the team.

Wallace exited the game late in the first half and told Philbin he didn’t want to play anymore, according to the report. Wallace did not speak with the media after the game.

Wallace has not been the player the Dolphins hoped he’d be when they signed him away from Pittsburgh with a huge contract two years ago. Although Wallace has started all 32 games in Miami, he’s yet to have a 1,000-yard receiving season for the Dolphins. His 2014 season ends with 67 catches for 862 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Next year Wallace is due a base salary of $9.85 million. For that kind of money, the Dolphins would like to think Wallace could be counted on not to quit on his team.

Im glad too and this is an unprofessional move by Mike, but as somebody who follows the dolphins I actually understand his frustrations. Yes they are paying him a lot but they are not using him, the dolphins don't throw the ball down the field at all. All the Dolphins do is throw underneath, doesn't matter the score, Hell the number 2 receiver Brian Hartline who had like 70 catches last season only had 36 catches. There are reports that Wallace and Philbin got into an argument and Philbin benched Wallace.

Wallace has speed, and not much else. They're not utilizing his abilities, and he's frustrated. His being on the field would've made no difference.

You gotta watch the odd Mia game to see how miserable they are on O.

A player has to know and understand his situation before he signs for more money to play. There's nothing wrong with chasing money, but you have to understand the situation and accept what happens. He knew he was leaving one of the best down the field quarterbacks in the league for one that had still had a lot of room for improvement and maturation as a football player. So, the fact that the offense isn't what he envisioned is his own fault, not the team's, he quit, he'll have to make it right with his teammates before next season, if he doesn't get cut after June 1.

Wow, remember when people thought we shipped the wrong guy out of town and the FO was petty for giving Brown a contract? LOL

This is just like Holmes in NY. If Wallace was this concerned with winning and production he should have accepted our deal.

Its like a guy who marries an old azz couger for her money and then gets mad because she doesn't look 25.

The Dolphins should just be happy Wallace only tanked for a half. The POS tanked for a whole season here.

Wallace is a punk who got his money and that's all he cared about. The Dolphin fans I know can't stand the guy because they see the stuff many Steelers fans saw..one dimensional and lacking top flight skills despite a top salary. Many would like to see the Dolphins dump him.

Front office called this one on the mark when they signed Brown and let this bum walk.

Even Wallace's "Man Love Fan Club" who predicated doom when he left should be thankful he is gone and gone for good. Brown, Wheaton and Bryant are all better receivers than Wallace and better professionals as this incident proves.
