This team is a year a away

On offense they have all the pieces in place. QB, RB, WR's, TE, and the O-line has started to come around. It is the defensive side of the ball that this team is lacking and that would make them a legitimate contender for a title. CB and NT seem to be the glaring holes.

Any thoughts that this team could make a run is a pipe dream.

I don't see anyone stopping Green Bay.

Now since i just said that the Steelers are a shoe in to win it all.

      need TE and OT
      need 1 DT, a true NT, 2 OLBs, 2 S and 2 CBS.
the way tomlin and colbert draft along with the way tomlin develops players, we are more than a year away.

I'm not sure this defense is a year away.

and THAT will continue to be the problem.

We need the eventual replacement for Heath but that's not a pressing thing right now. I also think we're fine at offensive tackle, I certainly don't see us drafting one in the first or second round. We don't know what we have with McCullers 100% as he's a rookie but I don't think we need a true nose tackle either. We do 100% need corners and the jury is still out on shamarko. I also don't see how you figure we need two outside linebackers. I'm a glass half full type but your post is pretty ridiculous. We need corners, at least one OLB assuming Worilds goes elsewhere but at this point he may just sign a friendly contract as he's not setting the world on fire.

Bottom line we aren't going to be drafting high enough to get a crack at top tackle and I'm not sure we even need one. We need corners, we've needed a corner for a few drafts and based on what we've all read the Steelers wanted Fuller but he obviously went elsewhere. I don't believe this team is more than a draft away, especially once people get healthy (Jones/Shazier,Shark)

so you think this team can contend for a superbowl next year by only adding a rookie olb(but only if worilds leaves) and 2 rookie corners?.............

Jones, Shazier and Shark healthy and the maturation of guys like McCullers and Tuitt why not? Our offense certainly isn't a problem when Ben isn't off. He got dinged by Upshaw early in the season and then just got dinged again against the Saints. Jones was starting to come on and he got hurt. Shazier was all over the field, he got hurt. Shark has showed promise but he's been buried behind Polamalu and Mitchell until he had a run of hammies. I don't necessarily think we are going to make a run at the Super Bowl but this team isn't far and sure as hell isn't as far away as you implied above. We currently have 2 starters down in Jones and Shazier, Mclendon as well. The coaches are high on McCullers. As it stands right now we should be looking at Heyward, McClendon and Tuitt on the d-line next season with a developing McCullers. We at least one high draft pick at corner and an OLB unless Worilds stays.

                    A year away from what?
Why do we keep kidding ourselves?
Is it because we are the Steelers we always think we're in it?
We have steadily declined over the last 3 years.
Our ST is below average, our defense scares no one in the NFL anymore, our OL is inconsistent and we cant score in the red zone.
We have a stud in Bell, Antonio and an aging franchise QB that is asked to carry this team on his shoulders every week.
Yeah so we beat Cinci this week...
How many people think we beat Atlanta given this teams track record?

We need to win out, maybe the back against the wall mentality will help this team over the hump.

Why does the conversation always talk about oft injured guys "being healthy" next year.

Winning Championships in the NFL is about having a Franchise QB and DEPTH ... you can't count on everyone being healthy.

Realistically, we don't have to win in Atlanta. In fact, if we lose any in the next 4 weeks, that would be the one you'd want to lose since its an NFC team..... Let's beat Cincy first, then see where we are....
