    Game planning

Is it me, or did we not hear this kind of talk during Baltimore and Indy week? This sounds like they're planning to work out the kinks in the running game, like this is a preseason game or something. If they were playing the Patriots, I doubt you'd hear a lot of talk about getting back to basics and pounding the rock all game.

This, IMO, is a big reason they consistently struggle with bottom feeders. They don't respect them and treat these as "get well" games.

You'd think after losing to the "bottom feeders" as often as the Steelers have recently, they'd START to take them more seriously.

It seems counter-intuitive to refer to a team as a "bottom feeder" and then bemoan the lack of respect given to them...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

It's one thing what fans think and entirely another what the Steelers think and plan for. They pulled out all the stops against Indy and Baltimore. Against TB and NY, they played it safe and simple and conservative.

My fear about the Titans game tonight is that we have heard so much rhetoric about fixing the running game we will over emphasize that and fail to attack the Titans defense through the air. This will make the game much closer than it should be and when that happen our defense has a propensity to be unable to stop teams from driving down the field because Lebeau goes into the passive mode. Combined it is a recipe for a loss. Need to attack on both sides of the ball all game long.
"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"

Agreed. I don't really expect the Steelers to do this, but I hope they do.

Fair enough. But, if the team is required to respect them, how can they be considered "bottom feeders"?

Since the 2012 season, Pittsburgh is 3-10 against teams that enter the game with a win percentage of .200 or worse. Use whatever terminology you want; clearly the Steelers have an issue with planning/preparing for the weaker teams.

I don't believe it's the planning or preparation that's the issue. It's the execution and mistakes that hurt this team the most.

hmmm... and this coincides with the arrival of whom to the coaching staff?

if you plan and prepare properly you will execute more and eliminate mistakes.

A lot ot of our losses lately have been to pretty bad teams which means we aren't planning and preparing properly for these games.

maybe the players fake it all week when they play lesser opponents but I think our coaching staff has to do a better job getting into our players heads when we have a bad team on the schedule.

you can't blame execution for everything when they show an obvious trend vs bad teams.

No, but I can sure as hell blame execution for 4 turnovers....

So the coaches have the players prepared properly for teams with better records and choose not to have them prepared properly for teams with lesser records?? That makes ZERO sense.

I watch the games. I can blame execution for a majority of the losses vs teams with lesser records. The mistakes show up on game film. Watch the film and it is clear as day where the game was won or loss.
