Conservative? You see what you want to see

Mike Vick.....sacked 4 time.....hit after the throw 7 more times.

    That is "passive?"
"We need to blitz more" Really?

    We blitzed PLENTY.

Vicks big pass........we sent 5 plus a spy. It got picked up.

Vick threw ONLY 18 times, sacked or hit 11 times after the pass? That is RIDICULOUS.

Both Flacco AND Luck threw 45 PASSES each against us NEEDING TO THROW because we had the lead and yet no great difference in hits compared to a guy throwing 18 times?

The Lebeau cushion? IN FULL EFFECT DURING THE WIN STREAK just like it was yesterday. The same cushion that allowed Gay to read Luck and jump the route to get his pick 6.

Say we score 50 and Vick throws a couple desperation picks trying to catch up.....Tell the truth YOU ALL WOULD BE SAYING THE PLAY CALLING WAS AGGRESSIVE AGAIN.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Don't be fooled by the sac numbers. Three of them came when Vick was scrambling out of the pocket and was finally tackled for no gain.

This. The Steelers didn't try to harass him like they did Luck. They played scared to lose.

We brought 5 on his best pass play.
We did not lose for lack of being aggressive.

Luck threw the pick six when we had no heat, we had not yet begun to "harass" him. Gay jumped the route on what would otherwise be an easy pass, he had not pressure whatsoever. It was early we had yet to turn the dogs loose.

He proceeded to tear us up for 400 plus yards INCLUDING a touchdown to his tight end when we BROUGHT SIX pass rushers.

At the end of the game, unharrassed he throws essentially a jump ball to the end zone with two minutes remaining needing two scores. Neither pick had anything to do with heat.

We won because we scored 50 not because the defense was any more aggressive than yesterday.

Come on Ghost. He is not going of the sack numbers. Hell I think all year they have tried to put pressure on the QB. But the OLB's just can't get there before JH came on strong. Heyward had the sack lead before JH's 2 sack games back to back. Every post CL talks about Blitzing he say how many guys attacked the O line. And 5 players on D sounds like a blitz to me. So was it a blitz that made Vick scramble or what? It may have not looked as aggressive as the last 2 games because Vick can still run and did on us. He even ran away from Timmons on a scramble which is impressive I think at his age. So you have to be careful were the blitz comes from against Vick. Also there was not a Steelers points lead to pin your ears back and just go after it Like the last 2 games. Plus the strength of the Blitz is from JH's side and right at Vick being left handed which is not good. Vick proved that a couple times running away from the pressure. Also I did see more then a few snaps with Diesel playing Cam Thomas spot with Heyward in there. Also seen #62 McCullers out there. So they are trying to improve the defense as I see it. I don't figure Blitzing on every play would have changed yesterday debacle at all anyway.

              Exactly.
Let me add. When the blitz is picked up.......people don't see it.
For example the play Luck had to the tight end. We rushed 6 and most never saw it as he was not harassed.
Conversely we brought only for when we had the pick 6.

Later in that game we Harass and even sack Luck bringing 4. During that stretch where they were talking about it looking like the old Steelers watch those plays. It looks like we a bringing everybody, but often we brought 4 and they were just beating blocks so several converged on Luck.

You are seeing what you want to see, Oc was passive and so was the DC.
If you watched the game they never tried to stretch the defense, screens and more screens with short passing the whole game even Ben first half numbers reflected that he was 11-15 for 54 yds.
On D on 3rd and goal you rush with 3 needing a stop because the o is struggling, the started to blitz more in the second half that's when the Jets only added 3 points. And if you think he wasn't aggressive more in the 2nd half of Houston up until Baltimore you really are seeing what you want, because the announcers even said that they have never seen Dickey that aggressive.

Yep, it's like the pulled out all the stops when they had to, but as soon as they got a more manageable game on the schedule, they went back to "their way".

And blamed the players for not executing it.

And the reason you say they brought 6 on the play Gay was beat is because it was a run blitz in which he was trying to stop from being gauge, it was a run formation on first down, so to me that's a bad example.

Blah I still say it is a little of both the D players getting to the quarter back more that everyone is seeing as being more aggressive and some more blitzes called when DL should be. That does happen in the 2nd half sometimes as the O line gets a little tired. Maybe he should have blitzed the house at Vick and had him run around more and get tired.

Yeah, bring the house constantly and allow Vick to choose between multiple Terrelle-Pryor-sized canyons to run through for a quick TD from anywhere on the field.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

The problem is our pressure came from players who acted like Vick has a wooden leg. The guy still has great speed and burned McCoy a year ago in a footrace.

Well JH has lost some speed in his old age to chase the fast QB's that is for sure.

They had ONE big play and an EASY short field on the other TD. We kept giving them the ball back, it is amazing they did not score more.
