"The game has passed him by"

All you haters of old people
DL.....really? I DONT THINK SO

Deebo not only SAID playas gotta play he DEMONSTRATED what that means.
OH WAIT another TOO OLD dude.

DEEBO HAD THE BEST DEFENSIVE GAME WE HAVE SEEN SINCE.......HIS LAST STEELER GAME AGAINST CLEVELAND IN 2012!

The only problem with Lebeaus defense was.......no in shape Deebo.

So many of you DID NOT EVEN WANT TO GIVE HIM A CHANCE. RIDICULOUS.

Keisel solid play and vet leadership.....oh wait on that subject.

YOU GUYS BEMOANED THE LACK OF LEADERSHIP!
A thought?
OLD GUYS ARE GOOD AT THAT.

Deebo and Keisel BOTH providing leadership. See Keisel calming the guys from getting out of hand in the chippiness?

You guys worried about not playing Big Dan enough? No big deal
Why did it take 4 games to play the rookie receiver? Who cares,
THEY ARE BOTH CONTRIBUTING STEELERS.

MY QUESTION: WHY DID WE NEARLY ALLOW TWO VITAL PEICES OF THIS RESURGENCE BECOME CARDINALS? Management was almost as stupid as some fans.

We almost blew it not for making kids wait BUT for letting old guys get away.

On the topic of old people getting away....to AZ...WHO IS leading the AZ defense that NOBODY can run on.....

THE OLD AND ALWAYS DISRESPECTED LARRY FOOTE.

Back to Lebeau......"oh he is finally calling it like we wanted?" Really?

"He is blitzing more"

Natural result of having the lead. THE OFFENSE is responsible for that. ITS NOT LIKE THIS IS NRAND NEW. Timmons and Troy have had a career among the leaders for sacks at their positions. Does not happen if he does not blitz routinely.

Players are making plays.....

Watch the game......famous LEBEAU CUSHION? In full effect baby.

We ramped up the pressure and I love the results. I have no problem giving DL his due when we see his D play good. I definitely had a problem with a million and one excuses when we get gashed.

I guess all we can do is give praise...

effe that, when the D and O look like trash they will be called trash.

When they play well, they get kudos and praise...

If we had no lead and we were getting gashed in the run game we would not blindly rush the QB. And if we had no Harrison who provided 2 sacks AND 4 pressures, people WOULD ABSOLUTELY have a problem with our defense because it would APPEAR less aggressive.

When you have a guy dominating in the pass rush who was not even on the team before and circumstances that allow our defense to pin its ears back, the results have nothing to do with the DC. This is nothing new, DL has done what we just saw for decades.

Ya know what's funny about all these "I told ya posts"? Many are not founded in reality. You do realize this D is ranked 21st in the NFL correct? http://www.oddsshark.com/nfl/defensive-stats

Yes. lets be honest. When they were the #1 D all those years, some said 'sure but they dont pass the eye test'.
Now, they may be ranked #21 but the eye test has been very pleasing over the past few games...a lot more energetic.
Note: this happens to coincide with James Harrison ramping it up.

You know what's even more funny?
I DONT THINK OUR DEFENSE IS VERY GOOD
I have called it bottom 10 in terms of talent in its prime.
I have stated this in reply to YOU specifically my friend.

I am responding to the idea that our "improvement" is because suddenly DL came to his senses and has changed what he does kinds of comments. Like he was stupid before and what we see now is different.

And speaking of "told you so" you come around to my POV about "too old" Harrison?

Or my reasoning with you that the Clemson kid was more like Wallace than Sweed?

I'm one of his biggest critics, but LeBeau is finally doing what many of us have been asking - ditch the prevent, "tackle the catch", and unleash the dogs. They are rushing five men, stunting, confusing with pressure. It makes all the difference in the world.

Defensive ranking means nothing.
Pressure forces good QBs to do bad things.
Flacco wanted nothing to do with the game after the 3rd quarter.
Except for a clueless Brice McCain hiccup, defense played a complete game for the current NFL.

I give much more credit to lebeau than I do Harrison, he made the adjustment and turned our pass rushers loose, instead of trying to disguise everything and drop guys into into coverage to fool Qb's. Now it just been, we are coming so you better make a quick decision, granted we probably wont shut anyone out with this D but its much more effective than dropping into coverage and getting picked apart.

Without a pass rush, LeBeau was forced to adopt the more passive approach. With JH elevating the pass rush energy, LeBeau can see a payoff for being more aggressive.
Its a marriage made in heaven.

But, we did drop guys into coverage...what was Jason Worilds doing when he intercepted Joe Flaccid?

But...but...I thought yardage stats were meaningless while turnovers and pressure are where it's at...

If those #1 defenses were a phantom stat, then, right now, that 21st ranked D is similarly non-corporeal...

The same people who defend LeBeau are the first to pull out "our D is the best because we give up the least amount of yardage". The fact is this...the Steelers give up 26 points a game. That is not a good D no matter how you slice it. When your D has been so bad for so long...I suppose any improvement looks good.
