Big Ben's big game ball in Canton

Big Ben's big game ball in Canton

Written by Dan Gigler on Thursday, 30 October 2014

A game-used ball from Big Ben's monster day against the Colts.

It is 102 miles from Heinz Field to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, but this week 522 yards was enough for Ben Roethlisberger to span that distance.

That's because one of the game-used balls from his record-setting performance Sunday against the Colts has been added to the display collection at the hall.

Against Indianapolis, Roethlisberger became the first player in NFL history to throw for 500-yards twice in a career and the first Steeler to throw for 6 TDs in a single game.

Here's a look at the ball (top) and where it sits in the Pro Football Today display (bottom, right, next to the ball from the 700th Monday Night Football game).

great news for Ben - but how appalling that a HOF performance had to be memorialized in those absolutely ridiculous absurd uniforms.

The yellow helmets and dark unis used to be my favorite because it seemed like we always won in them. But I think the stripes are my favorite now. I dont remember ever losing when we've worn them. And thats all I care about. The standard is the standard. Winning. I hope we can wear them in the Super Bowl this year.

The first time I saw them I admit I thought they were goofy. But after seeing them I few times I started to like them.

It bugs me more that the ball is in a display with the 700th Monday Night Game ball. What sense does that make? I wish they had kept the ball from the GB game in which he had 506 yards. Then they could have a display about Ben's 'Big Game Balls'.

I agree, the 49ers home uniforms are ugly.

Well, we did lose to the Rats a couple years ago wearing those uniforms. I should know, it was the only Steeler game I ever attended.

Boomer said on NFL Net that Ben's performance in this game is the greatest performance by a QB that he has ever witnessed. That's Boomer as in Esiason, not what I would expect to hear from him.

I like to BumbleBee Jail Uni's, IMO ugly in an endearing sort of way.

Another step closer to Canton for our qb. Our O line plays like they did against the Colts n Ben's stats will be terrific this year. Pay back time for the Ravens this week.

That just so wrong that it's actually right!
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Big Ben Looking To Bring Sports-Themed Restaurant To Pittsburgh

                      November 11, 2014

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A quarterback and now a restaurateur.

Ben Roethlisberger is looking to open a restaurant in the Pittsburgh area.

The Steelers quarterback is an investor in the King Street Grille, which is a restaurant chain that currently has seven locations in South Carolina.

The eatery is described as upscale and sports-themed.

In their search to expand north, the group has started checking out spaces in the North Hills.

But in a press release, Terri Sokoloff, the president of the firm that represents the restaurant, says they aren’t limiting their options.

“Our focus is primarily in the North Hills for the first location; however, we our reviewing the marketplace,” Sokoloff said. “We will also consider second-generation spaces if the location is right. We’re very excited to be working with King Street Grille on its expansion into Pennsylvania. The timing couldn’t be better.”

The plan is for the restaurant to also serve as a space to host events for the Ben Roethlisberger Foundation.
