    Anyone else daring to hope?

I just can't help but think that we pull off the third win in a row on Sunday, and I can't believe I'm saying that.

I hope I don't jinx it, and I'm trying to not believe, but I see a big, fat "W" on Sunday.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

People think I am blindly optimistic.
Until math eliminates us I always have hope.
I don't declare this team is done prematurely.

However hope and "expect" are two different things.
If the offense we saw sat week shows up we win EASY. But we have seen THAT offense ONCE .....EVER.
I don't expect to EVER see that again.

The game is at home, we have motivation I put the odds in our favor but won't be shocked by a loss.

People here go from HOPELESS DESPAIR to ridiculously high EXPECTATION and then back to despair from one game to the next.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

If this team keeps their foot on the gas, if they stay in attack mode, I think their chances of winning are excellent.

If they go to the play-not-to-lose, ultra-conservative offense and the plain vanilla D, I think they lose.

I'm not at all sure of which of these approaches we'll see on Sunday. I'd love to know what Tomlin, Haley and LeBeau have been planning.

I think once you come out firing on all cylinders like they did Sunday you cant go back to being conservative. I think we will see that team for the rest of the season. Edit: it will hinge on line play but even then with the way bell is running teams are going to have a tough road no matter what.

That is not unusual; that is the norm, not the exception, for all fan bases. A loss tends to create an atmosphere of doom and a foreboding haze. A win tends to make most feel championship aspirations are realistic. If we win this game, I fully expect to hear how we could be considered the favorite to win the AFC/super bowl. After all, either Denver or NE will appear vulnerable, depending on who loses that game. So, if we win, most fans will assume that we are better than whoever loses the NE game. But, I wonder how badly our hopes will feel smashed if we lose to Jets or Titans. Don't think it is so unlikely of happening: that is precisely what a Tomlin team is likely to do. <shakes head>

It is unusual. It is very unusual. On this board, it is taken to an uncommon extreme because, in general, Steeler fans are so spoiled...

Yes, we are worse than average because we are so spoiled. Certainly, beat down fan bases (Browns) don't overreact as much has us after a loss, but after a Browns' win, you will see their fans talking Super Bowl. It is crazy how easily they become overly optimistic. A few years ago, after some free agent signings, their fans were saying they had their new Mack, Byner, Slaughter, Kosar, etc. and they were 3-13 again.

Lots of reason to be feeling positive about this team.
Four guys who had good camps and flashed in pre season were Tuitt,McCullers,Thomas and Shazier. Now these guys are not there yet but if they can contribute and continue to improve we could have a very solid second half of the season. If JJ gets back that will help a bit too as Moats is a nice player but he is not special.

If you don't dare to hope, why bother watching the games?

The browns boards are exactly the same.

Really? Do certain people (not you) post thousands of inane comments there as well?

They better win since I will be attending only the second Steelers game of my life (only other one was Monday night win over Broncos (42-0) like 35 years ago). I'll verbally harass the Ravens sideline so much they will lose concentration at key moments and the Steelers will steamroll them like fish.

No, but they got really dopey posters who are afraid to accept reality. They got those types.
