Really, I find that very hard to believe, Ben is putting together the gameplan? changing personnel packages? I know in the no huddle he was calling the plays but haven't really seen us use that much. Having watched Ben for his career its hard to imagine he would just continue to pound the rock for 3 qtrs. as the browns continued to light up the scoreboard.

Antonio Brown is a great player but who is Ben's deep threat receiver right now? Dink and dunk just ain't getting it done.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

According to Charlie Batch, even when Ben's in no huddle, they send in two plays and he gets to pick one. At least this year. He had more freedom last year, but that was working so naturally they went away from it.

On Steeler Nation radio this morning, they were saying that Haley is calling the plays in the no huddle this year and it's not only slowing it down, but Ben and Haley are arguing about it.

I loved Hines as a player but an analyst/commentator he is not. He might be worse than Bettis.

Ben is missing throws, and people loved the idea of him calling the plays in the no huddle...maybe hes not the masterful playcaller everyone thought.

Hines is terrible though. I think its funny how much Costas hates him, because i loathe bob costas

Hines is now exactly the same as any other national media member. He has no connection to the Steelers locker room any more so anything he says is strictly speculation or worse, a flat out lie to drum up page views.

While I don't agree with his reasoning, I do think Ben has the biggest impact on our current record. He's completely ineffective in the Red Zone for whatever reason. He should be helping us put up more points.

Granted Ben alone can't make us great. We've got bigger issues and I think the roster talent is the biggest hole. Someone's gotta be accountable for that and it's either gotta be Tomlin or Colbert. I'm surprised we're now 3 years into mediocrity and nothing much has changed. We just get hopeful for new rookies and they turn out to be not that much better than the rookies we brought in the previous year. There's a pattern in the talent.

He should be able to make them decent though, hes going to be vying for $22million a season next year. He needs to play like the best player on the team if they are going to pay him like he is.

Hes not the only franchise QB with a shotty supporting cast

The problem is and I have seen this time and time again. It's that there are too many hands in the offense. It should be the offensive coordinators call. You don't need 3 guys making offensive play calls. Just one.

Then don't run the ball 13 times in a row, including three times in a row in the red zone that went nowhere. That's idiotic, outdated play-calling.

Ben's cannon for an arm is pretty useless in this offense so opposing DB's really don't have to worry much about getting beat deep.

I guess since Ward is kind of a journalist now, he won't reveal his source (if he has one) for his statement. I don't see how he can tell who's calling plays just from watching the game. But many of us have heard that Haley IS calling the plays. The whole thing makes no sense.

Especially when I think back to 2011 and recall the last regular season game, when Ben was force-feeding shovel passes to painfully-slow, creaky old Ward so he could get his 1,000 catches. I think he caught five passes that day for maybe 25 yards.

Hines, you have 31 other teams to talk about. You're making no friends doing this and maybe losing some.
