If I saw a little of Zeroue in Archer, I'd be happier. To this point, he hasn't even showed that he's up to Chris Rainey level.

You got that right. He can hangout with Spevuldava or whomever the punter was. Another high pick for a low priority that can't produce.

Dri Archer will be fine. And, for his size, he can break tackles. He has played poorly so far, but he has also been nursing injuries. Kid was a great interior runner for his size in college. Success will come.

We need to use him a little differently too. Let him run more downfield patterns as a WR.
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.

If an injured player that hasn't proved he can even play healthy is our best solution, this isn't good news. Could have, should have, would have is not going to cut it anywhere in life.

I see what you are saying about breaking tackles, but no comparison to Famous Amos. Amos had some power to him, some thickness, low center of gravity. There was a stretch where he was our every down back, when Bettis was hurt and he had a nice stretch of games where he was a solid producer for a handful of games. I never see Dri doing that.

But in all honesty, Dri ran between the tackles much better than I thought. I didn't think he'd ever be used in that manner; what 170 lb back does in the NFL the last 30 years? Warrick Dunn, James Brooks.....maybe one could slightly argue Eric Metcalf (although I don't buy him as a between the tackles back to be honest). And yet, didn't they run Dri 3 x between the tackles, and he got decent yardage each carry? I still say that's not how to use him. What happened to those little screens we saw in the preseason?

Branden Oliver in the 7th or as an UDFA would have been a nice replacement for the 3rd round PREMIUM pick that we wasted on Dri Archer.

I haven't seen it nor would I want to see it. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Zeroue was one of my misses back in the day...watched him at WVU and the guy was spectacular. I loved the pick. Its too early to know on Dri but I'm not encouraged by what I am seeing.

If we would have used him properly he may have panned out. We should have never gave him the starting role... he was a terrific change of pace but he wasn't a full time RB

Wait, has Archer even played three games yet? He played Week 1 (got hurt), and he played this past week. Did he play the other weeks? You guys are all writing him off after 2-3 weeks? I better write down the names of you guys writing him off already!

I'm not saying he is Sproles, but lets give him... I don't know, more than two weeks, to show anything? Zeroeue was a stumpy, thick-bodied guy. He had no breakaway speed in the pros, he was never going to be anything but a Frank Pollard/Fred McAfee type.

Questioning Archer's speed is also silly, at this point. He may never be anything but "Rainey" (who, when he wasn't beating women, did good things on the field for us). Archer is arguably the fastest man in the league right now. He will get a seam at some point, and when he does, people here will sing a different song.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

He's touched the ball less than 10 times. I thought he had a nice run against the browns but he got tripped up. He's still a damn rookie. I've said it 50 times. We are a spoiled rotten fan base. Your rookies progess post for example is loaded with rookies on the defensive side of the ball. How many rookies have even contributed for us at a high level defensively in say the last 20 years? Kendrell bell? Shazier certainly has shown flashes. Archer one of the few plays on offense drafted just came back from injury. Bryant is very raw with a lot of potential which is why they had to draft him in the 4th instead of waiting. We. Are. Spoiled. Fvxking rotten. Its getting really damn old too. The steelers aren't always going to be super bowl contenders. Ben got us two. A lot of teams haven't even smelled the damn super bowl yet here we are complaining with three appearances and two wins. The team was inevitably going to hit a down swing. We have a lot of young talent that needs to develop bit s lot of you are unwilling to wait....because? Fvcking spoiled.

I said I'm not writing him off...what do you want me to do, start drooling and waving pom-poms over every touch Archer has had as a Steeler? I actually think he could be an effective weapon in our arsenal...if we would get the ball in his hands in space.

You want to know what I think is getting old?

*Not being able to find ways to get young talent to contribute on non-winning teams.

*Not getting young talent on the field until their rookie contracts are almost up.

*Hearing people say that because the Steelers haven't been doing something a particular way, they can't.

*Hearing people say that long downswings for the team are inevitable.

*Hearing people say I should be content with poor coaching, with undisciplined, unfocused play, with the slop product this team is presenting as "football."

*Hearing people say, "Just wait, they'll get better," when there's little to no indication of things heading in that direction.

                            *Hearing the constant excuses made.

Famous Amos is now a cook in NY. Do you see Dri cooking?
