Philosophy Needs to Change

We need to be just like the Patriots in the mid-2000's where the offense controls the game and keeps our D off the field.

When New England was winning Super Bowls, they had an excellent defense, a capable running game, and Brady was a game manager throwing to guys like Deion Branch, David Patton, and Troy Brown.

When they morphed to a big-time passing offense with Brady throwing 50 TD's to the likes of Randy Moss and Wes Welker (and more recently Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez), they haven't won jack squat.

I think you have hit the nail on the head. Our defense is going to be far too inconsistent this year. We need to develop a reputation as an offensive team which means we go for the score on every opportunity. When we had the ball 4th and 2 around the Tampa 40 yard line it shouldn't have been a decision on what to do. We should have gone for it instead of having Ben fake it and then try the pooch punt. P.S. I love the people who criticized LeBeau for not playing the younger players and now that he is doing it he gets criticized for all the mistakes they are making. Some steeler fans have an interesting mentality.

What is even more interesting is the mentality of some fans who will make any excuse for a supposed "genius" Def Coord who has zero answers other than "give me star players" and has captained a sinking defensive ship for going on four years now.

I didn't say anything about a rookie starter. I talked about playing the younger players. What I want to know is what defensive coordinator do you want the steelers to hire or emulate? Give us the name of someone. I'd like to take a look at what they would bring to the table. I'll wait.
