I wonder how good this team would be.....

....If they had moved up and taken Kyle Fuller instead of Shazier. Have you seen this guy lately? He is amazing. The Bears got a player, no question. He is a mad baller. I still have high hopes for Shazier, but he is gonna be out for weeks and his regular season play hasn't been anything special. He admitted himself it's much tougher than he thought it was gonna be.

I wanted Fuller, but I didn't think it was worth trading up for. Let's judge after two years.

You can't trade up in the first by giving up only day 3 picks...you'd have to sacrifice a day 2 pick, so which one of Tuitt or Archer would you be willing to part with? None for me, thanks.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

At this point, Dri would be my choice.

If it's too early to say whether Fuller would be worth a move over taking Shazier, it's definitely too early to say if Archer or Tuitt are also worth not moving up. My initial fears on Dri was he was too small and won't be able to stay healthy. Then I thought he was the exception, now, heading into week 4, and dude has barely played a down. Far too early to conclude anything, but if you had to guess one way or the other, dude hasn't been healthy yet this season. Tuitt, should be solid, but not proven either; Fuller seems proven already, making big, game-changing plays all over.

If the draft was in April like it use to be Fuller probably would have been available. He shot up the last week.
I was for Dennard the whole draft process and changed to Fuller at the last moment myself

Fuller is smashing it. 3 picks in 2 games. We have all lamented over this team not valuing turn overs enough, to the point of not drafting CBs high because of it. I feel the writing is on the wall; you need both QB pressure and DBs who make ints in order to be a true contender. Fuller looks wicked fast with great hands. He seems like a real difference maker. I know it's early, but Shazier hasn't been making plays so far. I expect him to make more by next year.

there are a couple posters on another board that broke down the draft documentaries on the steelers site.

shockingly, they came away with fuller being the steeler #5 rated CB on their draft board

It's early, but I think he may end up being considered the #1 CB of this draft.

The Steelers don't draft CBs like that, they want "tackle the catch" guys who support the run. Fuller would have been frustrated being asked to watch receivers catch the ball.

I see you guys post this all the time: "tackle the catch." It seems Rod Woodson was able to do everything they wanted PLUS make picks too. Their willingness to not give the CB position much focus has us in a bare bones situation now. I said all along, the most likely culprit to another non winning season would be our lack of CB talent on this roster. I really don't want to be right.

CB's are as good as the pass rush in front of them.

It would seem the Steelers believe that theory.

Rod Woodson is also in the argument for the best CB of all time. I haven't seen a CB come into the NFL like Rod since 1987 (this includes the likes of Deion Sanders, Darrelle Revis, etc.)...if another CB like Rod became available in the draft, all 32 teams including the Steelers would be interested in that guy.

I still argue that Ryan Shazier was better than any of the corners still available where we were picking in round one, Stephon Tuitt was better than any of the corners still available where we were picking in round two, Dri Archer was better than any of the corners still available where we were picking in round three, and Martavis Bryant was better than any of the corners still available where we were picking in round four. We had a need at CB, sure, but we did not reach to fill that need, thereby passing up potentially better football players at other positions.

Woodson was good, no matter what. Sure, a pass rush helps any DB, but let's not pretend all CBs are equal and all of their success is dependent on a pass rush. Have you seen Kyle Fuller play? Sherman? They blanket WRs pass rush or not, within reason, any how. Woodson used to cover WRs like glue, and make tackles and make picks. Ike was solid in coverage but just has the worst hands off all time.

                              Kendall Fuller is better.

                              They can still get him
