That's actually not an absurd suggestion if Jones is going to miss a lot of time. If nothing else, James Harrison can still shut down the run. I thought that Moats was ok, but there is perilously little depth behind him.

Below is a list of free agents:

Not much at corner at all, but I'd think the Steelers will have to kick the tires on everybody who is out there.

Remember the year that chad Johnson had a list of corners who couldn't beat him? Ike held him to maybe two or three small catches. Even when he got destroyed by Megatron last year, it was a job that almost no other CB in the league ever gets - one-on-one with #81.

In SB XL, he held the Seahawks' best receiver to something like 5 catches, 51 yards (IIRC) and most of that was in the first drive. Funny how everybody sees Richard sherman as one of the best in the league...because he says he is, and he NEVER gets the assignment of shadowing the league's best receivers every week.
He was a big part of a great era of Steelers football. He was also a great example for younger corners on the team. Every year, there was a story about somebody training with Ike. Hopefully Allen continues that tradition.

I heard that Ike already had surgery this morning. I hope that he has a full and speedy recovery.

First time I heard Ike say his college...

        and probably the last.

hate to see a guy end a career like this. I wouldn't be surprised if tries to return for one more year.

Ike over Carnell Lake for #4?

I gotta say ... have not been a huge fan of Ike the past yr. But was glad he came back and took a paycut... But watching him leave the field last night made me feel awful. To go out just like that. I wish Ike an even more fruitful retirement than his great career.

Lake played more safety than corner.

Bummed about the Ike injury, but the injuries to Shazier and JJ are more concerning, as they are going to miss valuable time on the field at an early stage in their careers.

Yup. Nine years at safety trump his one year at corner. Same thing as Faneca. Even though he played tackle for one year for us, he's still considered to be a guard.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

J T Thomas could play. Big hitter too. And he was tested often with Blount on the other side.

there have been a lot of Ike critics that are going to get what they hoped for. I have not been one of them. It takes a special player both in physical skills as well as mental toughness to line up week in and week out against the opposing teams #1. For over a decade - Ike has been shutting them down.

                      definitely most underrated steeler.

I'll give ya that, but that would still mean that Ike is a top 5 Steeler CB.

We're not the only ones bemoaning injuries this morning. Just read that the Ravens' Dennis Pitta dislocated his hip again.

Did you guys see Moats play last night? Not concerned much about these injuries. There is depth this year.
