I didn't think we could run on Carolina

Chadman.. you were right. It's been a LONG time since I have seen our OL open holes for the RB's.

Bell is a freak... he reminds me of Thurman Thomas for some reason but I'm not sure that is a good comparison. Some of his cuts were insane and he is so darn patient.

I wasn't a fan of the pick but I think we have a game changer on our hands. It's like the football gods threw Bettis and FWP in a pot and came out with Bell.

I also loved DeCastro defending Justin Brown. I wasn't even mad at the 15 yarder.

I think he set the tone for the rest of the game.

Collinsworth compared Bell to Marcus Allen last night. Seems like a legit comparison IMO.

For those who don't know, Marcus Allen was 6'2 but a bit thinner (playing at 210 according to NFL.com), but in his prime, he regularly ran for over 1,000 yds and caught 40-60 balls for 500+ yds in the same season.

This O-line had been so shaky for so many years, it's easy for people to overlook how they are starting to come together. Beachum got beat once or twice last night, but other than that, those guys pass blocked like crazy and were dominant in the running game. Gilbert looked great on the right side, and Pouncey/DeCastro were monsters inside. Add a young stud RB back there, along with a thumper to help spell him and close games out, and this could be a really good mix.

Not only did the line have their best game in a couple of years, Cody Wallace got the start because Foster was out. That's impressive.

Bell is flat out fun and a joy to watch. On Blount's TD, he simply was not going to be denied as he ran that defensive back over like he was a toddler.

I think what he does really well is use the blocks correctly and that's probably because he's patient, on the other hand, sometimes he's too patient and I'd just like to see him take positive yards even if its 1 or 2 yards, go back to the huddle and move on, the offense is good enough to play 2nd and 9 or 2nd and 8.

Marcus Allen is my favorite RB of all time (non Steeler that is)

Even I didn't think of him but I'll go with it.

No one should ever be compared to Barry Sanders (that guy truly, truly, truly had a unique style of making guys miss that we will never ever see again...plus they are completely different body types in that Bell is somewhat tall and lanky for a RB while Sanders was short and squat), but some of Le'Veon's jump cuts and patience were somewhat Sandersesque, I thought.

I thought he could be an Eddie George type when we drafted him, and starting thinking Steven Jackson through the first 2 weeks this year, but the Marcus Allen comparison after this game seems pretty good. Gotta see him do a flying leap over the pile at the goal line first to cement it, though.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Bell's a much more physical back than Marcus Allen, but there are a lot of similarities there.

Boy was I wrong....However, In the first half we could have thrown a little more on some of those run calls that were stopped.
Overall a great game across the board except for injuries.

Now can they carry this to next week!!!!

I completely agree on DeCastro. It was nice to see the team show some nasty, 15 yarder or not.

This really look like an old school Steelers game. They were the more physical team on both offense and defense, for the first time in a long time.

I've been the biggest DeCastro supporter ever since his Stanford days (that draft night was fun), and it was great to see him unleash his inner Faneca upon the NFL for all to see. Regarding the 15 yard penalty, I was upset, because it did knock us out of FG range (for the time being...Ben got us back in FG range on the next play) but upon further review, it looked like Kuechly flopped harder than a soccer player when he saw DeCastro coming toward him.

I'd like to see Wallace continue to play. He looked better than Foster ever has at LG.

As far as Bell comparisons go, I think Marcus Allen and Eddie George really sums up this guy well. I came out of my seat on Blount's TD! That was damned refreshing to see.

In a few years, people will be comparing young backs to Le'Veon Bell...
