All that trade would do is make sure the Steelers lost the only piece that kept them slightly competitive. QBs can play into their 40's and franchise QBs don't grow on trees.

I'd like to see Tomlin hire his own guy to take over the D if LeBeau retires. Tomlin's a 4-3 guy and kept LeBeau in 2007 because there was a great record of success. Not anymore. If they promote Butler without his input, I'd walk.

Ben could give us 6 more years of solid production. That gives us 6 drafts to get it right around him. Agree with Shawn and keep the best chess piece we have and work the board around this guy. That would be my way of giving us the best shot at another title.
Getting back to drafting I believe this last draft class will prove to be very special. It will take some time for the dividends to pay off but they will. We do that again in draft 15 and this team will be right there.

Why in the world would Tomlin have no input on Butler's promotion? Not only has Tomlin worked with Butler during his entire career at Pittsburgh, they worked together before either coached in the NFL...

For what reason would Tomlin not want Butler, a respected assistant, with whom he had a working relationship prior to the Steelers? How do we know that the Rooney's are the reason Butler has stayed with the Steelers and not Tomlin?

Ben will retire a Steeler. A team would have to offer a kings randsom in the tune of 1 firsts, two seconds and Patrick Peterson to get Ben. It won't happen.
