    *dat offense*

    Hey guys,

I've been lurking this board for the last few years or so and finally decided to start contributing. Anywho, I found it interesting to note that, at least for one week, the Steelers are the second best offense (total offense) in the league (albeit only after one week). I suppose this would be more inviting news if it weren't for the fact that the defense is presently ranked 20th (total defense). Ehh, it's early and contrary to some of the bellyaching I've been reading around here, I'm feeling pretty excited for this season.

Yes, but if the offense hadn't decided to take their foot off the gas in the second half the Steelers offense would now be ranked #1 and the defense would likely be ranked in the top 10. Just saying.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

If that is the case then this should be a better team moving forward.

Please go away. If you have been lurking YOU KNOW that kind of blind optimism is not tolerated here!
You are disturbing the flow of our "post victory bemoaning our impending doom fest" with that kind of talk.

Keep it up and you might suffer the worst insult of all.........
You might be branded a "Koolaid drinking LEMMING".

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Precisely, LOL. That and I don't get flustered easily. I feel good about this team (as I felt good about the last two teams as well). I could be alone in my opinion, but I feel like the only reason this team missed the playoffs/didn't win the division the last two years is because of the injury bug (Ben late mid-season two years ago and Pouncy last year). They've always been better than the 8-8 record suggests, the team under Tomlin just seems to be slow at adjusting to circumstances (which believe it or not isn't necessarily a negative). Crappy D and all, I think this is a team ready to compete with anyone (save for Seattle perhaps and that's only by my estimation at the present moment).

The injuries to Le'Veon Bell and Heath Miller also contributed to our slow start last season as well.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I think this team can be huge as long as there are no injuries and they don't get too down on themselves from mistakes. They are young and need to gel. And that the coaches call plays and formations to their players strengths.

All that being said, I don't really see the team encountering any meaningful competition until the Panthers (yes, I think the Ravens are putrid and have thought so the last two years). I realize they [The Ravens] always manage to summon some form of reserved energy when they play us, but I think this is the year they finally slip completely back into uninterrupted mediocrity with no recourse.

Losing our starting ILB, who just happened to call the D didn't help either.
