Announcer said Heinz was empty after halftime.
I see this all the time from my couch every Sunday. Heinz is one of the worst home NFL venues now.

Nope. I could see NUMEROUS empty yellow seats during the 4th Q.

And, after halftime, the seats are EMPTY for at least 30 minutes while many are still out tailgating. Lame. Seattle DOES NOT allow in and out privileges.

In either case, poor job by the coaching staff.
I think maybe they could use the excuse for one of the four drives they scored on but how long can they stay surprised? I also don't buy that it surprised them, you have a team down by 24 points in the second half, you have to think at some point they would speed up the tempo to try and get back in it.

A column in a local paper this morning reminded me that we have encountered this situation (inability to stop an offense) before. It happened in 2002. Tomlin and LeBeau weren't here then. In the season opener New England came out passing and moved the ball at will. Brady threw 68 passes, including 25 in a row. The next week Oakland did the same thing. Gannon threw 64 passes. We were never in either game.

We still made the playoffs that year but the defense was weak. It got carved up by Cleveland in the first playoff round (although we won) and then by Tennessee.

I think the defense will be fine, my thoughts are did the steelers relax to have an edge vs Baltimore? Also, it's the afc north and the browns always play tough and I sure the birds will be swinging too!

Both teams looked disorganized so on to Thursday.

How many people expect no huddle when down 24? EVERYBODY expects it...

I think they didn't expect the Browns to be good at it.

Which makes the lack of preparedness for it all the more inexcusable.

Just like "they" didn't "expect" Tebow to be able to make the throws in that playoff game a couple years ago. And who are the ones who head up the "they"?

The article didn't say the defense was unprepared for the no huddle. They didn't expect that Browns to run the no huddle. There is a difference.

The Steelers players were not able to execute on the changes the coaches implemented until it was late in the game.

Bottom line they should not be surprised anymore if ANYBODY goes no huddle until we get it fixed since it IS OBVIOUSLY the way to attack us.

I still think our team should be able to have a more versatile base defense with all this LBs with corner speed and safeties who can be linebackers requiring LESS not more need for sub packages.

I think we have the parts and will get this fixed.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

                    TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

I think it's pretty clear from the article that the players and coaches are aware that the no-huddle will be the offense du jour that the Steelers will have to deal with until they prove capable of stopping it...

It's easy to say that they should have prepared for it...but it isn't as though the Browns put down a lot of tape with them running a no huddle offense...I think that most of us expected to see way more of Manziel and that is where a lot of defensive prep time was spent....

The defense had difficulty adjusting to be sure, but adjust they did...stopping the Browns on two key possessions when they could have taken the lead...the defense is young and a work in progress...the team got a divisional win...let this be a learning experience for the defensive players...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

but when a team is down 24 points 99% of the time they will come out in the no huddle.

I don't buy that they weren't prepared for it.. especially since all Ben talks about is running more no huddle in practice.
